I agree LL, I'm dissapointed that he didn't go for Boner or go for the ring title. Wasn't there talk that Fana would have still been for the ring title even though he was stripped. I think Burns beats Fana easy.

My thoughts are that Warren might have found it difficult to sell Burns as a champion. He really hasn't had 3 of the most inspired title defenses since his remarkable performance against Martinez. Not alot in the devision in terms of talent, and those that are out there could seem to find more lucrative options. I would imagine the Boner thing was probably going to get the same type of coverage as Hatton/Rhodes vs Alvarez - I don't think the American's would have seen it as anything more than a celebration for Boner, and that might not have meant the most lucrative for Burns or the type of coverage he wants.

At least now if Burns beats Katsidis, he can attract at least 2 big fights for a "world" title that will be easy to make. Mitchell and Murray. Burns vs Arthur would be a big fight in Scotland also, that I would imagine would still very much be easy to make.

True, what annoys me though is that it is for a vacant title. Nicky Cook was a former champion, who won the title off a champion - I think he was acceptable(ish) as a voluntary defense (top 20 independentish). Really, if this fight is for the vacant title it should be the #1 and #2 in the devision, if its for the interim it should be the #2 and #3 in the devision.... I think a case could be made for Burns being the #1 Super Featherweight and worthy of an immediate high ranking... Katsidis though, who lost so clearly against Geurrero, shouldn't be considered in the top 3.

As a title DEFENCE he would be fine, cause he is still very much in the top 10. There have been far far worst challengers fighting for vacant titles - both Morales and Cano were arguably less deserving, but still two wrongs etc.

I'm torn on this because I'd like to see Burns win because he's British, hard working and good to watch but for me Katsidis is everything I like about boxing a warrior who doesn't mind who he fights or where. Personally I feel a step too far for Ricky Burns, but like I said we'll see. In hindsight Maybe I was abit harsh when I said he'd get hammered earlier. It doesn't matter about the title (whichever one it might be) there'll still be throwing plenty of punches at eachother.

I'm just glad to see him in a ''proper'' fight.

Evensen was tiny, Laryea would struggle with my mother and Cook was done.

For the reasons I've put above I hope your suspicions are wrong, but it could be due to the fact that MK only confirmed last night that it was verbally agreed. Still I's to be dotted etc. Should imagine we'll all find out on Thursday.

If it is in London, can anywhere reccomend somewhere in Glasgow decent to watch it :(

Braehead arena at 50 quid a pop was a rip off tho....

Kelvinhall would sell out no problem in my opinion.

I worked there once, for a whole week. The first night we went for a beer after work, the next 6 we drank in our B&B. F*cking scary place.

Burns' home town, pubs will be rocking for his fight most places in coatbridge.

Having it in Glasgow makes more sense. Burns would sell out most venues in Scotland.
