Frankie Gavin v Diego Gabriel Chaves ! Oct 28th...

Post by jessi »

19 wins from 19 fights 15 ko's and a genuine welterweight, his even boxed at light middle a few times. a risky fight for Gavin but surely just what he needs ? good luck Frankie :TU:

Until Frankie tears up this ridiculous deal he's on and leaves Allegedly he's going absolutely nowhere.

Records mean jack!!! Luciano Torres was 42-1 when he fought calzaghe and he was terrible! Frankie needs to fight the Brits, all this fast tracking is detrimental to his career IMO I'd like to see him fight purdy, a real title and a fighter who we know is decent and in form!

Good luck to frankie regardless

Records are not everything but do mean something, the guys ranked 4th in Argentina and frankies ranked 7th in the uk. It's a good test !

Plenty of videos of him on youtube.

Looks a good prospect , footwork isn't that great but he knows how to finish an opponent off. If this fight happens it will be a test for Frankie

The titles are a great learing curve for fighters, mentally getting prepared for 12 rounds ect

Whatever the title i think this is a good fight, Frankie has been fairly poor in his last 2 fights, even though he won. He's now changed trainers and based himself in London, he could of been fed a soft touch instead to get him used to winning in style again. Instead we get an unbeaten guy who will come to win.

remember though.....in this day and age...the argie has to defeat gavin, the referee and then 3 judges.... its not easy coming to the uk!

Good fight for him IMO, but agree he has to fight the domestic lads. Welterweight is a stacked division domestically. He could go in with Vassell, Watson, Purdy, Jennings, Cook and a lot more. There's no need to go overseas for opponents when there is so many top guys here!!

I've been following Chaves for a couple of years. he definitely has some talent. he's very quick with the counter left hooks, and he can punch a bit. in my opinion this is a better fight than the usual FW drag someone halfway across the world type fights.

Alex,
How could those fights happen, given the mix of Promotors ?
Anyway, I think this is just the right fight for Frankie.
I think he's one of those fighters who will raise his performance as the level of the opponent's quality goes up.

I can't believe anyone would slag this fight off. It's a really good test for Gavin.

He looks very good, just watched him flatten Diaz, a tough seasoned vet of 40 fights, and that was in his 10th fight. Which means he's got real talent, and is a good puncher too.

Excellent test for Gavin, and the type of high risk that might bring out the best of him, because he could get beat here. I don't think they'll take it - too risky.

Credit if they do though...

Is this at Welterweight? I thought Gavin and FW both said he should be at Light-Welter from now on.

Can't see him doing the lighter weight unless of course the new trainer brings a whole new dsciplinarian approach.
