Sykes v Buckland - who are you backing ?

Post by maxicarter »

Unless I've missed it, there's not much debate about Sykes-Buckland. Considering Buckland sparked him out in the Prizefighter I'm surprised there's not been more........
Sykes seems confident that he will be better over the longer distance.

What do you guys think ?

Buckland will have him again.

Even though he's a Taffy and Sykes is a Yorkshire lad.... he's just a better fighter.

Forget the weight, forget the quick KO, and old, pretty much shot Johanneson had Sykes all but gone. Buckland is just as big and way fresher, albeit not as heavy handed he'll be able to time Sykes much easier than Carl did.

Expect a stoppage in the mid rounds.

I'm pretty excited about this one - cracking fight, been bubbling since Prizefighter. I'd slightly favour Buckland, cos he's a tough bastard and can definitely bang. He was still swinging in the 11th after being battered by Murray, who looked a lot bigger. I can't see Sykes hurting him too much. But Sykes can box, is great to watch early on and did well against Johanssen. Very difficult to call.

I feel sykes has the edge in skill, as well as the incredible fitness levels and showed his heart against carl johansen coming of canvas to hold on to his belt, whilst Buckland is the stronger, bigger puncher and will have the confidence of knowing he has knocked out Sykes before. Having boxed myself i know how tough it is going back in with someone you know has beat you before, However with Sykes skill level , stamina and punches in bunches will be enough to edge out a hard fought points win.
