Dimitrenko v Sprott
This fight seems to be flying under the radar, Does Michael have much of a chance against the towering Dimitrenko?
The fight takes place in Germany so a points win would be a hard task (no different from here), and Dimitrenko has so far shown a decent chin, he's not the best heavy out there, but does most things well.
This looks like Sprotts last chance at a big title, so he should of got himself in good shape, he might land one of those punches that took Harrison out of it, but he can also be hurt and i'm not so sure he can set the pace to win rounds.
For me Sprott has to take a bit of a chance early on, and try and unsettle Dimitrenko. But ultimatly i think the Ukranian will prove to much for a brave Sprott and win inside 9 rounds

Sprott has a habit of suprising the taller guys with his speed. But I'll be very suprised if he manages to win this. Dimitrenko managed to pull the KO off when he was knackered against Sosnowski which was impressive so I can see him easily having enough to deal with Sprott.

Yeah you've jogged my memory there James, Dimitrenko did have a tough time against Sosnowski, but came through at the end.
Sprott has of course been used as a sparring partner for Wlad, so should be used to the height of Dimitrenko, but i hope he doesn't get the sparring partner mindset in this fight.

Re: Dimitrenko v Sprott
I'm not just saying this udley from an Audley Harrison fan point of view but he always seemed much more motivated for his fights with Audley than his other fights around that time, he weighed in for his fights with Audley around 10lbs or so lighter than his fights before and after them. When I think of Sprott I always think 'if only youd come in to the Vidoz fight as motivated and angry as you were for your fights with Audley you would have been a European champ.' I remember seeing his fight against Vladimir Virchis and thinking he got absolutely screwed by the judges, and his fight against Bidenko again had he turned up like he did against Audley both times I reckon he would have won so thats 3 prett big fights on a European level he could have won that would have made a huge difference to his resume.Old bones Ian wrote:Yeah you've jogged my memory there James, Dimitrenko did have a tough time against Sosnowski, but came through at the end.

I'd agree with that, Sprott I also think Sprott is one of those boxers that could of used a good sports psychologist to help him get over some mental barrier in winning fights. He really struggled in the Matt Skelton fights with that, but as you say when he's in the right mood he can really perform.
Re: Dimitrenko v Sprott
Sprott's simply a poor fighter who lacks durability. This fight is a joke, frankly.

You could say similar about Danny Williams, a lack of motivation and dedication robbed us of the chance to see his real abillity and standing at times.jameswilson wrote:I'm not just saying this udley from an Audley Harrison fan point of view but he always seemed much more motivated for his fights with Audley than his other fights around that time, he weighed in for his fights with Audley around 10lbs or so lighter than his fights before and after them. Sprott has close to no chance of winning.

Sprott was robbed against Taras Bidenko. Amazed he goes over to Germany, I hope he gets paid well for the routine screwings he suffers over there.

Well his record is 4-5 in Germany and, excluding Prizefighter, it is 3-2 in Britain over the same period, so it doesn't look like he has got too badly screwed over time.

Sprott is up and down. sometimes he just goes throught the motions but if he's up for this he certainly has a chance. I take Dimitrenko to win on points, but id love a Sprott win. im also a fan of dimitrenko who gets a bit of stick

Re: Dimitrenko v Sprott
we're talking about a man that got sparked by a one armed audley harrison here. Lets be realistic he will be competative for a couple of rounds then get sparked.Old bones Ian wrote:Yeah you've jogged my memory there James, Dimitrenko did have a tough time against Sosnowski, but came through at the end.
