Would Sprott fancy it?

It would be a good test for Fury.

Not really. He carries his hands too low, he throws arm punches, and he crosses his feet regularly. He's a very good fighter but his strengths don't lie in the technical realm.

Vitali is not a technically gifted fighter, but Wlad has very good technique.
Eh??
How can you say that when neither can even throw a proper uppercut?

He carries his hand at the level that allows him to get his punches off. Has nothing to do with his technical ability.

A fighter should be considered ‘technically gifted’ only if they have mastered the technical niceties of boxing, and it's this mastery that serves as the demarcation point between technical expertise and sufficiency. Vitali routinely throws arm punches and commits mistakes with respect to his footwork, so he fits into to the latter category of technical capability even if the positioning of his hands is excusable.

You are conflating dominance with technical expertise.

Please explain,
Wlad throws every punch in accordance with a high standard of technique (go watch young Wlad in action), but his output has been limited to primarily jabs and right hands because this approach keeps him out of danger more so than all other approaches. The absence of an active uppercut in his arsenal does not mean that he is unable to throw that punch properly; it means that he decides not to throw it all.

I don't think that Vitali has good technique.

I'm sorry mate but that is 110% WRONG.

I have saw Wlad attempt an uppercut loads of times and it was inept at best and don't get me started on Vitali.

So what do you think about his 'hook of the jab' or his 'check hook'?

"Wlad throws every punch in accordance with a high standard of technique" priceless!

I haven't discerned any technical inadequacies with respect to Wlad's hook. The manner in which he throws the punch maximises its potency without leaving him more vulnerable to an attack or more off balance/out of position than he would be if it were thrown differently. A lot of people mistakenly believe that there is only one proper way to throw each punch, and they're wrong. My sentiments are similar with respect to Wlad’s uppercut; from a technical standpoint there's nothing wrong with the way he throws the punch. It's not his strongest weapon, but that isn't due to technical demerits---a punch can be technically correct and ineffective (or simply less effective than other punches), just as a technically flawed attack can be highly effective.

Even if were to concede that Wlad's technique isn't stellar is some areas, I would still argue that he is a technically adept fighter overall. His footwork is deft, his jab and right hand are straight and untelegraphed, and he is always in an optimum position to effectively attack or defend. You don't need to get started on Vitali; if you read my previous posts you would know that I'm not impressed with his technique.

I don't think you're coming across as harsh. I'm actually quite flattered that you think my diction is priceless

What about Dominic Guinn he would be a option for him, and would cause some shockwaves if he stops Guinn as all of Guinn's losses have been on points.

Guinn's a decent shout, if still a little risky.

He was well beaten by Mansour and Pulev in his last 2, but Fury's a different fit. I'd be a little worried about Guinn viewing a 3rd loss straight as being damaging enough to his future earnings to motivate him to train like a demon for it. After the trouble McDermott gave him, an 'up for it' Guin would probably be asking a lot more questions of him. Guess it depends on what's left of him.

I'd go with Sprott, personally. It's an obvious cop out, but if he's looking to build a fanbase on ch5 then he needs to be in the type of fights that not only extend him, but entertain the casual fan. It's so easy to imagine even a winning performance being god-awful ugly against someone like Guinn.

Rogan fits the bill nicely as well.

I never know when I'm offending people on here so I'm trying to be more tactfull these days:-)

Right so what does he do wrong?
Uppercut? OK lets start on that,
1 He does not lean forward whlst putting some shoulder into it to get any leverage behind it.
2 He does not twist his hips in order to rip it up from the floor in order to get full bodyweight behind it.
3 He does it rip it up the middle in a way that would lift someone of their feet or at least lift someones head straigh up, ala Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, hell even Tyson Fury can do this (even though he punched himsef in the noggin whilst doing it :D )

What he does do is throw a mutated slow sweeping arm punch that never does any real damage to anyone.

If you want I could fully break down the rest of his skills to show you what else he does wrong.

Size and power but no real technique thats the Klits.

I understand some the points you are making about Wlad's uppercut, but I also disagree with some of those points. Even if we could agree that Wlad throws one particular punch in a technically flawed manner and occasionally makes some mistakes, I would still argue that, on the whole, he is an above average fighter from a technical standpoint (for reasons mentioned in previous posts).

We will have to agree to disagree Jon!

No probs! :TU:
My take is simple, he's a below average fighter who uses his height well and who has good power but not a great chin.

Even with today's standards of heavyweights, being #1 in the world is still an amazing achievement. You do not get to be the #1 fighter in the world if you are a 'below average fighter'. Your statement is the thing that is below average.

Junk junk junk!

His height and power is about it for him.

By below average what I mean is that If he were 6'2 he would barley be Euro level becase he can't really box can he?

Unless you think he can?? and are willling to break down the finer points of Wlads classic 'old skool fundamentals' I think you should back off on this one (anyone with a brain would do so) as you risk getting shot down in flames by the smarter people on this forum Keithy.

Vitali does not fight in a very orthodox manner, but his technique works, which is all that matters. He makes the best use of his advantages in height and reach, and leans back making himself even harder to hit, whislt keeping his arms extended in front of him, so that his fists are never far away from his opponent. Unusual - yes, effective - definitely.

Neither of the klits commit much on their shots, but I think that is deliberate, especially as Wlad used to throw much more bodyweight behind his shots early in his career.
