Amazed at how many people are giving Burns such a serious chance in this one...

lets be honest FW wouldnt be making the fight if he thought he was going to loose he's not going to risk his world champion. Although it didnt help in the mitchell fight but he did then admit he had hardly trained and had never operated at world class levels.

Two thoughts spring to mind:

1) Warren is very canny at match-making, but still does get it wrong on occasion

2) Could he actually be using Burns as a 'yardstick' to assess the viability of a Kat-Mitchell rematch? If Burns wins, Warrren has another champion, if he loses, the manner in which he loses will determine whether Warren believes Mitchell can overturn his previous loss? After all, judged purely from a commercial aspect, Warren is always going to invest more in Mitchell as he's got the greater commercial potential

Exactly, add to the mix that if burns loses he can then fight murray and Warren has a lot of options.

I fancy burns to win on points - his win over martinez showed he can outbox a world class puncher.

I've said this before: Katsidis would beat the pants off Martinez. The lightweight division is so much stronger than featherweight. Compare Martinez's best wins to those of Katsidis.

Katsidis wins this 9 times out of 10. Burns hasn't thought any one near the calibre of Katsidis argubaly may be Martinez who put him down in the 1st.

Katsidis is relentless, and unfortunately I see Burns getting a pasting that won't last any more than 5 rounds.

well you've almost answered that burns has fought someone of katsidis' calibre.

i'd argue that martinez is as good as or better than katsidis.

probably both martinez and katsidis will have been weight drained on the night, vs burns.

so i pick burns - if he's strong at 135 - to repeat the big win over martinez, maybe in another life and death, exciting matchup.

I thought that Ricky looked good (condition) on the brief appearence with Cook.
I also thought that Ricky would of done better taking Broner at sfw although i wouldnt of wanted to see the match in Cincinnati.
I do feel that R.B would do a better job on Broner at sfw as opposed to Kats at l.w. But as someone has already mentioned. There may be a lot more behind the scenes going on than what were led to believe. I.e using R.B as a gauge against Kats for Mitchell
I really like Burns attitude and do believe he has the makings of a real champion.
Kats is a real tough kid and although i dont like saying it,i feel he may be too much for Burns,who should stay SFW IMO

Is this fight on November 12th or November 5th. On Frank Warrens website (well the original allegedly announcement) it says 5th - yet on here, on many betting sites it has it down as 12th.

no but i can name a few - Rios, Guerrero, JMM, Vazquez, Casamayor, Diaz, Lundy - didnt Earl drop him as his corner was throwing in the towel.

Now you name me some people he's beaten that make him so much better than martinez? lets not forget kevin mitchell has never won an EBU title he's not proved he's above domestic level.
