I dont know Towers but listening to him talk he's got a great attitude,is talented and has the tools but is woefully lacking in experience.Even though he is 32 i dont see the reason for a big push this season. Heavyweights are like goalkeepers, they can get better with age! By Richards own admission he has lived a monastic lifestyle while in the 'shovel' and has plenty more milage left in him without rushing into a mis-match with Fury when it could be a 'pick' em' fight down the road. A fight with a motivated Sprott would be too much at this stage imo. What about an 8 rounder vs War machine? or Tom Dallas(with notice!!). Like i said i do like Towers and much respect to any1 who can turn their life round but too much,too soon.

Amir mentioned it...yes i know you have to take things a boxer says with a pinch of salt but he dosen't seem a bullshitter plus he's a very educated intelligent man who has a Law Degree. Hopefully he'll come on Boxrec soon and post his own thoughts on the matter.

I've been posting on Boxrec since May 2003 and i don't make rash statements but i think Hardcore has what it takes to become World Heavyweight champion and i haven't felt like that about any Heavyweight since Lennox Lewis.

Totally agree, Towers has not had the same amount of quality aponents as Fury yet. He needs to be stepped up before they talk of a title shot.

Price still has to go through McDermott yet before he can talk about Fury, we all know big John can pull off big wins so it is not a sure thing yet.

I'd go for Fury v Rogan in November and then the winner of Price v McDermott before stepping up and maybe go for the Euro belt.

Send Towers to Amrica for some quality sparring.

Why when they've a poor heavyweight scene. Send him to Germany/Europe instead, Tyson did it a few year back and it brought him on.

Beause Britain does not have Eddie Chambers, Tony Thompson or Mansour for Fury to spar with.
Besides Haye there isnt anyone as good as the above in the UK.

Regardless, there is absolutely no chance that Fury's team would say anyone was too good for them.

Why so much man love for a 39 year old junkie who's beaten nobody? I think Towers would beat Mansour let alone Fury

I'm a Fury supporter but he'll get knocked out once he rises above European level and as for Towers that dude is going no where.

Also Amir is not a Junkie, sure he made mistakes in his past but has served his time plus educated himself and gained a Law degree and is now focused on becoming Heavyweight champion.

Yes Hardcores time is running out, he probably has 3 or 4 more years at world level but if he becomes World champion a year from now he could still make a few defences and leave his imprint on history.

He also has the absolute hunger and desire to become the champion and trains like an beast which i can't imagine any other Heavyweight contender doing, it's not even about the money for him as he wants to bring excitement back to the Heavyweight division.

Also it may seem like a mute point to you but from a aesthetic point of view he looks like a Heavyweight champion and a great physical specimen, something he shares with all the Best heavyweight champions over the years like
Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Ezzard Charles, Rocky Marciano, Sonny Liston, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis...hell even Larry Holmes looked great in his 20's before he started getting a bit soft in his 30's.

You just have to look at Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko to know they are in superb condition which is probably the main reason they're so successful. Compare them and Amir to the physiques of other contenders like Fury, Povetkin, Helenius, Chambers, Dimitrenko, Solis, Arreola and Stiverne to know they these guys aint in top condition or make the sacrifices needed to become champion.
