Australian title belt..
A thread on the British and Irish forum about the Lonsdale Belt got me thinking what the Australian boxing fans think about our Australian Title Belt. Do you like the look of the belt or is it time for change? And if you belief it's time for a change how would you like it to look?
Re: Australian title belt..
Changing the look of Oz belt would no doubt mean extra cost resulting in sanction fee increase, which atm is $1,000 (including the belt)
Re: Australian title belt..
I've seen the belt, no offense to anyone that holds 1, but they are certainly an eyesore. A change would be nice.
Re: Australian title belt..
I tend agree to certain extent. Change would only be possible if majority of ANBF Ltd members (State Branches & its members agree) & make it an agenda item @ next AGM - October/NovemberHounddawg wrote:I've seen the belt, no offense to anyone that holds 1, but they are certainly an eyesore. Re: Australian title belt..
Considering the men who have held Australian titles ( several of whom held World and/or Empire titles at the same time) their recent history is insulting.

Pics or STFU :P

Current lightweight champ Brett William Smith with it

Gold part allows engraving. Upon 3rd successful defence they get another

Re: Australian title belt..
That looks to be an improvement on the previous one.

Looks as unimaginative as the Canadian title belts. I think they get them second-hand from some MMA club or pro-wrasslin outfit. The belt worn around the waist of a champion should be something impressive.

I agree. ANBF should get its act together, increase its sanction fee to 2k and award champs with a million dollar looking belt after their 3rd successful defence & not with a 200 buck job @ the time the title is acquired. e.g. Most PABA titlist had never got/seen the farkin thingCap wrote:Looks as unimaginative as the Canadian title belts. Re: Australian title belt..
i like it, most belts look the same at the first glance, aussie belt is ok
Re: Australian title belt..
If I woz a boxer, I'd be chasing titles for belt appearance...fark the title
Re: Australian title belt..
I actually think the Aussie title looks ok.
Re: Australian title belt..
That's why I never bothered fighting for one, I don't have any shoes to go with one, nor belt loops in my pants big enough.Cap wrote:Looks as unimaginative as the Canadian title belts. Re: Australian title belt..
Looks a bit like the area titles they have in england. I suppose it's what it represents that should count though.
Re: Australian title belt..
This is all part of the reason why boxing is being overtaken by MMA/UFC crap. Titles mean nothing now, a dime a dozen straight from a cereal box. A title demands a certain prestige attached to it. The belt should have a certain WOW factor. And there should be only one per country, one per region and one per planet. Boxing desperately needs a new promoter with an imagination for marketing the sport.
