Takaloo

Post by stujones »

First fight back an everything but I thought Takaloo didn't look very good in there versus Delroy Melis. He seems to be trying to adopt the Floyd Mayweather high shoulder low arm guard, but it was very forced. He seemed very wary of his own punch resistance.

A bit understandable but I don't think many Light Middles/Welters will be quaking in their boots after that display - looked shell shocked.

Yes he did seem to over-exagerate tucking the chin behind the shoulder...gun shy :-?

I missed the other fights, how did Takaloo look? Is he still going to have a future at the weight or has the Alexander loss made him damaged goods?

Looked a bit gun shy and weary of his resistance, speed, balance and physical stuff seemed okay.

To be fair to Takaloo, Mellis can bang sohe was probably right to cautious.

On the plus side his hand speed looked good and getting a decent eight rounds under his belt after getting wiped out against Wayne Alexander last time out is a good start.

Talk of dropping to welterweight seems unlikely.

Mellis looked shot and even worse against ERNI SMITH afew months back.
Tak looked gunshy,RHODES would deal with TAK without a doubt.

I'd like to see Rhodes v Takaloo as well, neither of them has much to lose.

Yeah, dissapointed in Melis.

Alexander must have been in bad shape to have lost to him. He has looked poor in all his TV fights since.

Don't think Tak looked gunshy. I mean, he didn't get caught by silly shots like he used to and overall, for his first fight in 10 months and having been knocked out, I thought he boxed well. Mellis had had plenty of time to prepare as well and i thought Takaloo contained him and hurt him enough downstairs to stop him going full out.
I spoke to Tak before and he told me he's going to box more. He said he wanted to go back to boxing and counterpunching instead of just walking forward and warring and show he's not just a one-dimensional banger, which is the general way he is perceived. I thought he boxed well, and within himself and he finished strongly too.

Guy walks into Alexander trying to be exciting and gets whacked out and remember, whacked out good and proper. He comes back and uses his boxing skills to win comfortably against a short, strong puncher and he's gunshy.

And don't bank on him not going down to welter. He believes he can do it easily. He weighed in at 11st1lb and had been eating normally right up until the day before the fight.

On a controlled diet during the build-up to a fight he says he can easily do welterweight, without killing himself or it affecting his physical performance.
