Brandon Rios vs John Murray
Brandon Rios vs John Murray
That's the talk folks..
"That's what I was told yesterday," said the source. "There is no contract signed, but that's the opponent being considered."

I think its a bad fight for Murray. He has nowhere near the skills to tackle Rios, he will get badly demolished.

Dan Rafael @ ESPN
The co-feature ( to Cotto/Margarito ) will involve lightweight titlist Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios (28-0-1, 21 KOs), who is, for my money, one of the most exciting young stars in the sport. If he's fighting, I'm watching. There is no opponent signed yet, but Top Rank's Carl Moretti told me he's working on a deal with British promoter allegedly to sign John Murray (31-1, 18 KOs) for the fight. Although Murray is coming off his only career loss -- an eight-round knockout to Kevin Mitchell in July -- it was a terrific fight. I have no doubt a Rios-Murray fight would provide excitement and competition. I just hope it's finalized. If not, Rios will still be on the card
Weird fight - why not Mitchell ? Is FW protecting his new main man, for a possible big allegedly hometown match against .......Rios ? Maybe John's getting sent out on a scouting mission.

Weird - almost as if they haven't quite got enough confidence in Mitchell without taking a closer look at Rios.
Or maybe, Rios thinks Murray is finished and fancies this.
Weird all the same.

Murray doesn't need to go straight into a fight like this after the Mitchell fight. Rios is such a dangerous opponent i'd hate tae seem get a beating.

If FW puts him in a fight like that,he wants him of his payroll,Lamb to the slaughter springs to mind...
Re: Brandon Rios vs John Murray
Exactly, at least Murray could be given a tune-up first to get a win under his belt. Two straight defeats could severley damage his career for good which would be a shame as with a bit of tlc he could rebuild and get back on track in a year.Tommy Gunn13 wrote:If FW puts him in a fight like that,he wants him of his payroll,Lamb to the slaughter springs to mind...
Re: Brandon Rios vs John Murray
Im Sure Murray will be delighted to get a shot

Re: Brandon Rios vs John Murray
Fair play to Murray for taking this if given a chance. I know for certain if it was me, i would never turn down a world title fight. Before the loss to Mitchell, this is the fight Murray was looking at. 1 defeat doesn't make a bad fighter.

Well if the stories on here about him in Germany at the Haye fight are true then it's no suprise. He's not exactly set the world on fire under WarrenTommy Gunn13 wrote:If FW puts him in a fight like that,he wants him of his payroll,Lamb to the slaughter springs to mind...

but the manner of it shows he's not cut out for a title shot.Josh1111 wrote:Fair play to Murray for taking this if given a chance. he shouldn't even have a ranking to get a shot off the back of that fight.
