Steeds and Delaney card

Anyone know the story behind Steeds v Delaney, i've read theres some ill feeling between the 2 of them, i'n not sure if both being West Ham supporters is something to do with it, Who's topdog maybe?

Also ABA champion at Light Welter Michael Grant might be on the show, maybe a future opponent for Amir Khan.

Should be another useful learning experience fight for Steeds, who showed promise stepping in with Scott Pemberton.

If Mickey can beat Julius Francis over eight rounds, Delaney should go the same way.

there isnt any ill feeling between them... they are just trying to build a bit of needle to make the match more intriguing.....

They are both good honest pros ...

Steeds used to do a lot of his training with Garry's "little" brother Chris and Garry used to spar with him a fair bit when he was on the unlicensed circuit...

i like steeds seems he will get in with anyone , he seems to have a better grade of opponent than Aud already.

he may not win em all but good on him for showing some balls and fighting the likes of gammer and francis so early in his career.

Agree with J in as much as Steeds deserves a lot of credit for stepping in with Pemberton.

Just spoke to the organisers and Michael Grant is confirmed on the card, there is no opponent yet but they have there matchmakers working on it.
I understand that he only got clearence to box from the board today, so its a rush job trying to get him matched.

Another boxer who could be looking towards Khan is also on the bill. Gary Buckland who lost a verdict 13-10 back in 2004.

The shows box office numbers will be in boxing news or there will be tickets available on the night at the venue.

I have heard it was very close and could have gone either way.

I'm halfway through writing up my report, I had it one point ahead to Steeds, so it would have been a draw if not for the point deduction for use of the head by Delaney. It was a pretty ugly fight both using the head a lot.

Michael Grant looked good as did Gary Buckland and Jamal Morrison

Who was the guy Grant beat in the ABA final? thought he looked good, a strong southpaw with a punch.

Thanks Kev.... Delaney was upset he didnt get the nod.... but losing points doesnt help...... but if both were using the head a lot it seems a bit off for only Delaney to get a point taken off.... joy of being the visiting fighter i guess

Is there any sport more corrupt than boxing? Even at the highest level the same is true: the more tickets you sell the more favour you can expect from the 'officials'.

Pretty much stating the obvious, but it's still one of those things that grates from time to time.

Is it corruption or just getting caught up with the crowd and actually thinking that the home fighter is landing more because of the cheers when he throws anything?

I'm not stupid enough to think that corruption doesn't go on in boxing, but when you say someone is corrupt are you suggesting that they have taken a payment of some sort to favour a boxer?

Take the recent Eastman v Abrahams fight in Germany, now if that was fought over here i would say Eastman would have got home on a split desicion, But as it was fought in Germany Abrahams got the nod in a close fight, but one judge scored it to Abrahams 119-110, was that judge corrupt or inept?

of course it wasnt inept... not obvious corruption like a brown envelop of cash but more of a "i'll scratch your back if you scratch mine"

Interesting one that. Thought Llewlyn would actually be quite a good one for Gammer.

Steeds certainly isn't scared who he's fighting tho, and a quick turnaround from this weekend's fight as well.

Didn't see Llewelyn-King, but if he's in shape I think he'll avoid being sparked and get a pts win

No chance they ain't gonna even think about Khan losing , never mind risk it, Grant will either sign up with them if they want him or be froze out of it never getting the right fights to bring him along cos they can't afford it. Thats Boxing
