He's a she, Barbara Slater. I attended a meeting with her last year and she's your typical upper class toffee nose you expect at the Beeb. She's an ex gymnast herself and has made it quite clear that she doesn't like boxing.

It's completely stupid and the beeb, as a public funded broadcaster, should be forced to give the public what they want. She makes she they broadcast what she wants. I heard someone say 'yeah but loads of boxers are on Question of Sport' and that's true but QofS is an entertainment show and does not come under Babs remit.

I for one and am looking forward the the Olympics next year especially the boxing but once again feel let down by the BBC. Yes us boxing fans are lucky that allegedly picked up the World Championships for Baku after what once again seems like the sport being ignored by the Beeb. Over the last few months many sports have recived BBC coverage due to the Olympics and today the BBC are boardcasting Live World Championship Gymnastics. REcently we got Hockey,rowing, canoeing etc but not a mention of the boxing. In the last Olympics we won 3 medals in the boxing and have currently a very decent batch of fighters who will no doubt bring home a good few medals in the forthcoming games yet this successful sport is completly ignored.

Oh they did mention on the lunchtime news that Haye maybe hanging up the gloves in their openning headlines but then bumped the story from the news as they run out of time.

I think it is the political stance of the BBC Mark.............

They don't approve of boxing and its the same with the papers now, very few cover boxing like they did 20 or 30 years ago

The BBC are a shower of pricks when it comes to boxing if that stuck up cow Babs Slater is anything to go by!! :x I feel sorry for Jim Neilly who does the commentating, he is passionate about boxing; I actually heard him when the mic was supposed to be off saying about other journos not giving two fucks about boxing and he wished they'd all piss off.

People in the past have slagged Jim off but he may sound like he's repeating himself explaining the scoring and so on but then when it's edited for the highlights show such as the Olympics/Commonwealths etc., it has to be for the average Joe Bloke who wouldn't know a left jab from a flu jab.
