Watched him on Prizefighter last night, always have been a fan of his but in the last fight with Haskins he was terrible!!! Never seen him go down before and out on his feet like that!!!
Do you think he is on the slide now and no longer a force in the Division????

I was suprised that they allowed the fight to continue with all that blood on his face !!martinperks1981 wrote:Watched him on Prizefighter last night, always have been a fan of his but in the last fight with Haskins he was terrible!!! Never seen him go down before and out on his feet like that!!!

I think one of the aspects of prizefighter that makes fighters alter their style for the competition is the 3 round format. This tends to make them more reckless because they know they don't have to go a possible 12 rounds. That's why Broadhurst looked worse than expected in that fight, because he was more gung ho. The set up of prize fighter doesn't some fighters, especially the ones that get better as a fight goes on or are more tactical over 12 rounds.
Re: Don Broadhurst
Think you're getting Broadhurst mixed up with the local guy who got beat by Haskins in the semi-final.Quixall wrote:I was suprised that they allowed the fight to continue with all that blood on his face !!martinperks1981 wrote:Watched him on Prizefighter last night, always have been a fan of his but in the last fight with Haskins he was terrible!!! Re: Don Broadhurst
Broadhurst didn't have the look of a boxer last night (sorry, that doesn't mean to sound so disrespectful - my bad). What I mean is, he is a super flyweight but didn't look that cut. I wonder if he made the weight correctly.
Tremendous bravery from him, but the fight should have been stopped IMO.... was he seriously trying to kid the ref that he slipped, he didn't look like he knew what he was doing from the KD. I don't blame Haskins for being cautious - the tournament was in the bag - just need no slip ups.
Have to give it to Lee, I've been a critic in the past -but he has thouroughly impressed me with his turn around since the first Broadhurst fight. I would love to see him step it up, why not a world title fight.

Re: Don Broadhurst
Agreed Haskins looked massive compared to Broadhurst who looks a bit fleshy, Broadhurst would be better off going down to flyweight
Re: Don Broadhurst
Don strikes me as a lovely guy, but he's just not lived up to the plaudits he was getting a couple of years ago or so.
I hope he turns it around.

I just think Broadhurst has gone completely downhill since losing to Haskins for the British title, bit like Paul Appleby(even though Paul looked alright against Walsh)

The minute I saw the press pic with him lined up with the rest of the boxers you could tell he never looked in shape. It was conformed when he gassed early too. Has he been on the 'Frankie Gavin' diet up in Manchester?
The potential is still there, I think he needs to diet properly, and get to 112lbs. He has been as low as 114, even into 113 for a few fights. I'd like to see him in shape fighting Flash Ash!
