Following the success the GB lads had at the amateur worlds, it got me thinking about how the funding that BABA receives has helped to develop a truly world class set up in Sheffield.
I've been lucky enough to see it first hand and it really is a state of the art facility - with all the professional staff as well.
Now, promoters invest a huge amount of money into boxers, yet the boxers or their managers choose the trainers etc. If I was a promoter with the financial clout of say a F Warren or Matchroom, I would develop my own gym team of full time strength and conditoning coachs, dieticians, physio/sports therapist etc that could be used across all of my boxers. Agreed that each of these roles will cost the best part of £35 per year each but surely its worth it. Have a gym or simply use an amateur gym at minimal cost where your boxers can train and utilise these expertise.
For example Barker and I believe Froch use Gator ABC during the day. Why don't matchroom make that their 'base' add to some equipment (not a massive cost) - have a team as described above, not necessarily on a full time contract, and use the very best in technology and advice so that their investments are being looked after.
What do people reckon?
Idea for a Promoter

i reckon that 35 quid a year is far too much!!...
