Unfortunately people may and will try to gloss Haye's career up as much as they like, but the only thing he will be remembered for is boxing 12 rounds on the back foot against Klit, after hyping himself up to be the best Heavyweight on the planet, and promising a devastating performance.

Haye will be no where near the top of any best british boxers of all time, and will soon be forgotten.

he had a good career, but how can you resist saying "out with a whimper" after the last performance?

i was gutted when he boxed without assertiveness, vs wlad.

haye went out on his own terms, well off and without taking too much punishment. that's the best you can put it after running from wlad. if the toe was so bad, why so much running? (not that wlad wasn't also to blame, for negative tactics...the champ won't even open up, unless he knows the other guy cannot hit back...)

People will always cite the performance against Wlad and rightly so, it was a wash out.

However he had some good highlights, good wins over tough men like Saber Zairi, Lolenga Mock, Arthur Williams, Glen Kelly, Vincenzo Rossitto, Alexander Gurov, Lasse Johansen and Giacobbe Fragomeni.

The Macarinelli fight, given how much hype Enzo, little Ezno and Warren were hyping up their chances, leading most to believe it was a 50-50 fight. That was satisfying to watch, even moreso, the excuses that followed.

The Mormeck fight was a test of grit and intimidation and he showed his mettle, to come through. Valuev was the same scenario and despite what some may say, I thought he well won that fight,

Ruiz was another good win against a tough vet. Big Aud did not deserve a shot, but that was about making money and the Wlad fight, well I think he tried but found out, early on that Wlad was just too good. No shame in that.

A fair few good wins, a few disappointments and money and health intact. He won't ever go down as the greatest British fighter but he was a very good one. Undisputed CW champ and a World HW Champ.

Not a bad way to bow out (I get the feeling he may return...).

Isn't Wlad's best win David Haye? Not saying Haye's resume is better than Wlads at all but after that it's a tie between Samuel Peter and Ruslan Chagaev. Actually Chris Byrd was pretty good and would've maybe beaten Haye. Does Karl Jade remember the Byrd fights or was he too young for his mum to let him stay up late enough?

In the end, Haye fans became the laughing stock of the world.

I'm inclined to think, as many are, that this is a ploy to get Vitali to even out the purse split as much as possible, but then who knows? Lets not forget he did a hit and run on the cruiserweight division, and at heavyweight he only wanted easy nights or straight to the champions. He never wanted to prove himself against other top rated contenders, so if Vitali aint comming up with the goods, i reckon he will stay retired.

Sad, he's at his peak and really should have more of a desire to continue fighting.

I think Haye will be remembered as a front runner with delusions of grandeur. He wimped out during his biggest challenge and in my opinion brought the sport into disrepute by going on about his pinky toe. Experts are unanimous in their view that such an injury would have no effect on pushing off the foot to punch and would have inhibited his running away and lateral movement more.

I've just read Haye spouting more rubbish on Yahoo Boxing regarding Vitali ducking him and how he came so close to unifying the heavyweight title.

The man is a dullard and a disgrace to boxing and will be remembered as such.

Heard him on Bunce's show last night accusing the Klitschkos of not fighting guys who pose any threat to them, and implying this is the chief reason why the fight with Vitali won't happen.

What I don't understand is, for such a rubbish fighter, who lacks heart, bottle etc, as you say, how was he able to beat Mormeck in Paris? Come through a tough Fragomelli with that horrendous cut? Beat Valuev, and he did beat him, in Germany? Beat Ruiz, who was equally qualified, when compared to Wlad and Vitali's defences?

It's funny how no body here is saying that.

Also, a lot of people who aren't from the UK or die hard Haye fans predicted a Haye win. I'm pretty sure Freddie Roach picked Haye. Sucks to be wrong, but somebody has to lose. Personally, I WANTED Haye to win. But I didn't really expect it to happen.

By the way, good way of getting around not knowing who Chris Byrd is. I thought you would've at least gone on Youtube and checked out his fights with Wlad. But then, you are a troll, so why would you bother? But I'll give it a try with you, just to be nice: Just out of interest, who do you think is a cool boxer? Any weight division. Who's your favorite? Also, who do think Klitschko's best opponent was (that he actually beat)? Who made the best fight of it? Surprise me with some knowledge Karl.

Chris Byrd was a blown-up light-heavy who beat Vitali. Wlad killed him. He has nothing to do with David Haye.

Wlad's best win is difficult to say. I'd probably go with the first Peter fight.
