Good fights upto now hope the quality don't drop which I think will happen. Shame the quality of the actual production isn't as good the commentating with music in back ground , just the cheaply done feeling

I'm not impressed that the LA bill was scheduled in on the channel from 1am-5am meaning I recorded it and watched it this morning only for the programme to end after it's 4 hour slot in the first round of the Hopkins fight. The first hour of the slot was taken up with a re-run of Clev bellew, it should have started at 2 am with no replays.

It is going well so far, but it will go bust in 12-18 months imo.

That long. If casual fans do not know the fights on allegedly when its free why are they going to pay £10 a month to subscribe. I did not see much advertising saying the fights on allegedly.

I'm tempted to subscribe but there doesen't seem to be any info other than it's ten pounds a month. Is it DD or a card payment? If it's the later then i'l probably leave it as i can remember the problems with Setanta taking money off the card after trying to cancel with them.

Doubt it'll last.

Also that Johnny Nelson Wannabe guy needs to be removed.

Good things:
1. They show the full card. Really enjoyed the under card stuff last night.
2. They seem willing to put far more money into overseas fights than Sky do.
3. Enzo Maccarinelli. I wish more colour commentators (this means you Jim Watt) would admit that they were not experts on scoring and not always right. Seriously, the guy should give up fighting and stick to this!
4. Buncey. Is always quality.
5. Atmosphere - if they could keep this when production values hopefully rise then they might have something.

Bad things:
1. Production quality is not good enough.
2. The already mentioned Hopkins issue.
3. The lack of non-Allegedly UK fight deals.
4. The suspicion that we may be fed a constant diet of mismatches to boost prospects rankings.

I had the same problem but to be fair it has happened to me a few times with Sky as well. The difference with Sky is there is always a Big Fight Night special on quite early on the sunday morning but Allegedly channel have no re-run until 7
Its very very rare to happen on Sky, Premier/setanta it happened more frequently but at least you have the option of recording the next programme if you suspect its going to over run - and usually they miss time it when all fights are long.... The hopkins fight was 2 rounds long and you couldn't tape the next programme to compensate for it.

Bad, and so far I thought their EPG accuracy has been a massive plus.

Err I think you'll find he's been around a LOT longer at ringside and in the commentary role than Nelson has. :witzend:

ah my bad.

Just found it unprofessional the way he easily just dismissed Hopkins as a cheat. Not knowing the facts, only for it to turn out as Hopkins actually dislocating his AC Join

Well, I am very happy with the allegedly channel. OK it isnt in HD but at last we have a boxing Channel. What it needs is support not people critisizing it. I hope it does well. Its got Buncey and thats a big asset.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how will this affect Sky sports' coverage of boxing outside of alledgedly's shows? Will they be competing to show them? Will it mean Sky pulling out of boxing?

Their current schedule looks very bare. Quigg-Booth, Prizefighter, Price-McDermott and Murray-Sturm being only confirmed shows to end of the year!

allegedly has been winning purse bids for fights from other promoters, which could end up killing the rest of them, but I think it's good for his channel.

Really enjoyed the fact they showed the whole undercard on saturday though, Boxing fans have been craving this and big Enzo is doing a good job commentating, along with the excellent John Rawling, who is by far the best UK boxing commentator.

Post by P4P#1 »

Probably Another thread somewhere about this but cant see it, Has anyone any news to when it will available on virgin? I rang Virgin and they didnt know what i was talking about. I cancelled my virgin subscription in april, im going to get either sky or virgin back on this week but cant decide which one, is sky worth getting just for the extra premier sports channel?

Cheers

Its not on virgin yet mate and they havent mentioned it either. Personally i find sky better than virgin. I had virgin then switched to sky because they had no cable in the new build i live in and certainly dont regret it. The picture quality is better for one.

Just cause he won purse bids does not mean fight will happen.

Seriously, how many fights go to purse bids anyway, without the respective parties agreeing a deal in advance ?
Anyone would think that by opening his own channel a certain party had become the Morrisons of boxing.
Good luck to him, if it's good for UK boxing bring it on, but if anyone seriously believes that the News International conglomerate is quaking in its boots then they are mistaken.
The other major Promotors excluding Hennessey will remain with Sky.
I fully expect allegedly to look at the small hall Promotors to fill shows.
