Cleverly bellew weigh in
Re: Cleverly bellew weigh in
Some guys need to work themselves up to hate their opponents. Hagler would hate his opponents like no other. And Nigel Benn would need the hate to 'fuel his fire' as he'd say.
But none of them would act as foolish as Bellew has behaved during this build-up.
Bellew just comes across as the insecure bully who needs to see fear in his opponent. The more confident Cleverly appears the more insecure and irrational Bellew is appearing ..
I don't buy into it being an act. The show is sold. Cleverly is clearly not intimidated.
Bellew does seem a decent guy away when he's far enough away from Cleverly ... Is it Cleverly who really intimidates Bellew?

Boys, you all know what Tony is like from the way he conducts himself on the forums. This is the biggest fight of his life against a long-time rival - you're judging his character by the way he is in the pressers? Give your heads a wobble.

He looked a bit tight to me, especially on the face.
Tony would be better suited at Cruiser. Win win fight for the lad in my eyes - wins, he has a world strap; loses, he will surely make the move to cruiser where he'll have better success imo.
Re: Cleverly bellew weigh in
Best of luck to both guys now anyways.

Jesus christ, we've got some precious people on here. What were people expecting to happen today? They've been at it for a while and they're not the first pair to have some heated verbals in the build up and at a weigh in.
I doubt it was anywhere near as bad as the crap Mayorga spouted:
"I want to stop his heart. I not only want to stop him, I want to stop his heart or detach his retina, one of the two. I really want to do damage to him." -Ricardo Mayorga to Oscar de la Hoya

Re: Cleverly bellew weigh in
Hope we get the fight that the build up deserves.............. we so often don't in these bad blood matches
I think most of this forum are more naturally suited to following crown green bowls than boxing, does nobody like a bad boy anymore???
COME ON BOMBER!!!

Re: Cleverly bellew weigh in
I tend to ignore all of the pre fight bollocks nowadays, seen it far to many times to be impressed one way or the other.
The one thing that annoys me, is the way there's shock and horror when it happens .When on stage is an old bloke with a microphone, and a handful of suits, then you have Bellew stood right next to Cleverly getting weighed in with no-one between them. and then surprise surprise they go head to head.
The weigh in is conducted by the BBBoC, so surely they could ask for the boxers to be kept a decent distance apart, and only the trainer and manager of the opposing boxer to be stood around the boxer getting weighed in.

Don't be too hard on Tony - he knows he is in for a thrashing so has to make a noise beforehand to show how tough he is. Liverpool on a Saturday night is full of sad guys like that.

Re: Cleverly bellew weigh in
Wow! Tony did really well after all - certainly did not get thrashed. Proves one thing though - he does not need all that pre-fight street corner trash talk. Liverpool on a Saturday night is still not the place to be however! I was born there, lived there, worked there and finally (like Ringo) left there. Good football teams though!

You're going out your way to make that irrelevant point. Fvck off lad, and don't come back.josco wrote:Wow! Tony did really well after all - certainly did not get thrashed. Thanks jbacca - you're right, it was totally irrelevant so I will take your advice even if it was given in the typical terminolgy of this forum.

You sound like Cilla Black mate - go on about how great Liverpool is but left the place at the first opportunity !!
Re: Cleverly bellew weigh in
We nearly got killed on the way from the arena into town for a few beers.
I was with a mate and a few Manc lads who we'd been talking to in the arena, and outside we were talking to a few Welsh lads who didn't know where to go.
A few local hard cases decided it would be a good idea to chase us across town.... seen as there were twice as many of them as us it seemed like a good idea to get running.

Every big boxing event has the noheads hanging around after. Stay until after the last fight and you will miss the c0cks who fvck off after the main event.
