Frank Loporto getting a shot at Austin Trout

Post by ryan711 »

what a joke
WBA super welterweight champion Austin Trout (23-0, 13 KOs) will make the second defense of his title against the Australian Frank Loporto (15-4, 7 KOs) at Cohen Stadium in El Paso, Texas on November 11. Trout, who was born in El Paso and raised in Las Cruces, NM, first defended his belt against David “The Destroyer” Lopez by unanimous decision in San Luis Potosi last June. It will be the first world title shot for LoPorto.

Frank is fighting for a more important WBA title than Mundine. How about that?

I wonder how hard Boxa tried to get a shot at Trout. ;;-)

THIS IS GREAT!!!!

We are always complaining about the aussie boys not stepping upm, well here it is.

Frank is most likely overmatched here but he has wins over Daniel Dawson (who has fought for a world title), Robbie Bryant & Pter Matrevski Jr so he has proved himself as one of our best LMW fighters.

GOOD LUCK FRANK!!!!

PS - Imagine if he somehow won.......Mundine would be on the phone so quick it woudln't be funny.

Good luck to Frank for venturing overseas! Will be very tough fighting on Trout's dung hill in Texas but you have to be in it to win it.

At least Frank has the gumption to his try his luck in the USA, unlike Mundine who is currently musing away his time, looking across the Pacific from Nobbys towards HBO's promised land.

Why is it a joke,
Frank is one of the top 154 pounders in this country, He came over here to Perth and belted Daniel Dawson.
Good on Frank, He has great stamina and seems to get stronger the longer the fight goes.

I'm sure he'll do us proud. He's no KO kid nor is Trout. However, he & his corner will need to have a clear understanding what Texas judges will be looking for.

The whole WBA Super World Light Middleweight set up is a bit strange. Cotto became champion by a defunct WBB title being resurrected and added to his WBA title. Troy Waters was the first holder of the WBB title in the 1990s. He dumped it because he recognised it as worthless. It has been dug up a few times since for no reason.

This looked like an excuse to make some fees money for the WBA.
