Mayweather Woman Beating 'Trial' Begins

Post by Manos de Oro »

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Jury selection began Tuesday in the trial of world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., who is accused of hitting the mother of his three children outside a Las Vegas nightclub.

Mayweather, who grew up in Grand Rapids, Mich., has been charged with felony battery constituting domestic violence. Authorities say Mayweather struck Josie Harris in a car outside the SRO Club on Dec. 27, 2003.

In February, Mayweather was fined and ordered to perform community service after pleading no contest in Grand Rapids to a charge of misdemeanor assault and battery for a bar fight.

Mayweather now lives and trains in Las Vegas.

Last year, Mayweather was convicted of misdemeanor battery stemming from a fight with two women inside a Las Vegas nightclub. He received a suspended one-year jail sentence and was ordered to undergo "impulse-control" counseling.

Mayweather, undefeated in 34 fights, took the WBC 140-pound title from Arturo Gatti during a bout last month in Atlantic City, N.J. He previously won the WBC super featherweight and lightweight belts.

The trial in Clark County District Court is expected to last a couple of days.

There he was getting disrespected again, and his ego can't handle it because of the physical talent he has compared with most other human beings.

I wish he could just go to church or something in his spare time. One of these days he'll really f*ck up.

"impulse control" issues :o

Is that what they call being a wanker and slapping a woman around, now?

Bottom line is, anyone who hits a woman around is a chump and a loser whatever they do in the ring.

No Southpaw the problem for you is that you can't stand to hear a bad word said about your favourite fighter.

I don't believe Mayweather is a nasty bastard at heart, as I've said before I believe he gets into so many scrapes in public because people either don't respect his amazing talent (when they should) or just don't recognise him full stop for being more than a little bloke with a big mouth.

Mayweather has very little to prove in terms of what he can do in a boxing ring, but the bottom line IMO is that he's a small guy who wants to be big. That's why we've heard all this talk of taking on Winky Wright, when Floyd has only faced 3 guys at light-welter to date.

If I was his manager I'd have him fighting at least once a month cause its plain to see that Mayweather isn't going to grow up out of the ring until he is really slapped down and has to do some time.
Perhaps 6 months in jail will do him good.

In a shocking development, Floyd was acquitted.

"I was nervous, extremely nervous, because my life was on the line,'' Mayweather told reporters outside the courthouse.

"I'm disappointed,'' Chrysanthis [the DA] said. "But I know a lot more about his criminal history than the jury did.''

The jurors deliberated less than 90 minutes before reaching their verdict. The foreman was a 20-year-old college student from Las Vegas.
