Who are the best Amateur and Pro ?

And who were the best in the past ?

Gomez and Andy Lee for me in the pros and John Joe Nevin in the amateurs !

The majority of good Irish amateurs are travellers.
The Joyces, Nevins, Wards, McDonaghs... Read recently that Michael O'Reilly from Portlaoise is too.

Corcoran's can fight for fun :box: Billy and Eddie's younger Borther is Different Class within 2 years he will making a lot of noise............
Frankie is, John aint from Irish Traveller's........

Ive heard about a big 6 foot 7 16 year old from manchester called kiely is meant to be very good .And another lad Johnny Coyle ! Has anyone heard of them or seen them fight ?

I'll post finals results from juvenile, boy 1,2 and 3 I think it was this year.
I remember practically every fight involved a Maughan, Ward, McDonagh, Stokes, Mongan...
On Irish elite team for worlds - Joyce, ward, nevin...
Ok, maybe not over 50% (at underage level, yes) but a huge proportion!

A fella called Jessie James from Leeds was good, there is also a big family from Cardiff called Janes, where they are all tough fighting men, Neville Smith was also a good fighter

He is Danny James and was good but the winner, hands down, is Henry Wharton. Am pedigree plus pro achievements speak for themselves.

The Kiely lad you mentioned, is he the son of Tony Kiely? I used to box under him in Offerton about 10 years ago.

You have got Alfie smith who just had hes first pro fight. im sure hes goin to be winning titles as long as he lives the life. Im sure we all know a traveller boxer who was a really good amateur but just couldnt live the life of a pro.

jem mace was the first traveller who become a champion,bare knuckler. yea john mcdermott is from travelling people,billy joe saunders is another. anybody know what henry wharton is up too these days ? good fighter him,tough ! mark baker was another traveller,pj blueboy gallagher was another as he beat billy schwer in the aba finals.

What happened to Micheal maguire.he was a top am then turned pro with haymaker.not heard anything about him in a while.
