FRANKIE GAVIN VS JUNIOR WITTER.

Post by POWER99 »

Just heard Gavin say if he gets through his next fight that purse bids have been called for a fight between him and Witter. Who wins?

Junior Witter has got the experience and and has been a former World Champion etc, but Frankie Gavin is younger, more hungary and has more power and aggression than Witter so I reckon Gavin would win with a stoppage mid distance.

I think Frankie would win this fight but a stoppage I doubt he would have a good 12 rounds catching junior and boxing clever.. Depending on the rounds if it was 10 round fight.. Junior would try to jump on him straight away to fluster him and Frankie would outbox him but a stoppage is very unlikely but if so that would be very impressive..!

The reason I thought Gavin might not stop Witter is because I think Gavin has got the quicker hands and he has a bit more spice on his punches than Witter has plus with Witter's age I reckoned Gavin might take him.

This is a no contest. Witter looked completely shot in his last real fight in Canada.

An in-shape Gavin has the style to give even a prime Witter plenty of problems. With his accuracy he'd be able to keep Witter off balance and stop him from planting his feet and generating his power.

Now Witter is pretty shot and I can't really see the point. Hopefully they can use it to help build towards a Brook showdown?

Gavin will definitely stop him, Witter can't stand up for 12 rounds.

After seeing Witters last couple of fights I'd fancy Gavin to win easy. Maybe stop him in the late rounds.

Unlike Gavin who looked absolutely sparkling against Muttley and Woodhouse.

Witter is an experienced campaigner and has been in with some top names. But he is on his way down and facing a fighter on his way up I suspect that he'll lose.
I think it'll be a close points decision and at times during the fight Witter will frustate and annoy Frankie and even pinch a few close rounds.
Frankie Gavin by a slender UD, if not a close MD.

Witter is shot to bits, he looked an uncoordinated mess in PF against a pretty average field.

Unless Witter lands a money punch with one of his wild lunges, I'd back Frankie to beat him easily using nothing more than the jab, right hook to the body and some clever in and out footwork.

It's not as if Witter throws lots of haymakers either, he spends nearly the entire round posturing.

I think Gavin gets to him late. Let's not forget Witter looked like crap in Prizefighter. Can't see Witter lasting the distance, Gavin is going to beat him up.

Witters reflexes are shot.
Thats the problem with most of ingles fighters imo they can only remain at that peak of perfection for a couple of years and about 7 years ago Witter was fantastic but is finished now.
Gavin inside 8 rounds busting Witter up.
Could Hatton have done this 7 years ago..... no way thats why he avoided him like the plague.

Agree, unless they are Johnny Nelson. Witter's style was never going to age well

If Gavin is going anywhere at all then surely he should be getting through a fight like this. I don't think that Witter has a great deal left to be honest. I think that maybe we are remembering him at his peak and in reality he has slipped a fair bit.
