The promoter/matchmaker does the best he can with what resources he has. We, the fans, sit on our thrones and declare it 'good' or 'bad', but based against what? We all need to shut up and enjoy the boxing we have - I'm going to launch a Best of British club to get new fans out and at venues to sample it all up close as an antidote to the moaning and groaning I read here and a dozen other places each day.

To be fair the people who post on forums tend to be the hardcore fans, who often have extreme views. But lets face it britain as a whole love to knock anyone and everyone.

Having said that Barker, M hatton, bellew have all had massive praise on this site. Allegedly always gets a bashing but whats new, he could find the cure to cancer and everyone would still complain.

You're right, Mr Bunce. Nobody has the right to be that pompous.

In any case I wasn't trying to claim some divine right to great fights week in, week out; it's more a case of once bitten twice shy. The last minute pull-outs are perfectly understandable in a sport that places such demands on the body. But it's the cards that have no chance of ever happening (Your current employers were brazenly advertising Huck v Wlod as recently as 10 days ago. And the website is probably still showing Gavin v Purdy in the line up).

I'm more positive than most on here about the state of UK boxing and Saturday was a brilliant case in point. This side of the pond had quality, drama, talent, atmosphere and intrigue. A couple of hours later a living legend and a guy who's apparently one of the best of the new breed stunk the place out in front of about 2.5k paying fans and who knows how many paying $50 for the dubious privilege on PPV. By that measure we are very well off.

Just don't try the emotional blackmail when it comes to me paying for my boxing - I will pay for something if I think it's worth it. If allegedly continues to deliver in the manner of the last few weeks and the upcoming schedule continues to excite (as it currently does), then I'll pay my money. But at the end of the day, it is my choice.

Im starting to think Sky have said to allegedly channel you can be in our platform but not our main competitor for x amount of time (6 months/1 year) who knows. Allegedly will know that Sky is his only way of getting the most exposure and the lack of clarity on it being on Virgin from both sides make me think this.

Buncey you're mssing the point of this thread. Understand you're annoyed at people who constantly criticise fighters but the point of this thread is that allegedly is not available to Virgin subscribers.

This is easily resolved by making all fights being shown on sky live on the internet like the Cleverly v Bellew fight. I was over the moon when that was announced and was very impressed at the quality of the stream. I honestly thought allegedly had an answer to the lack of coverage on Virgin.

Then i find out that this weekends fights wont be streamed which has left me without the big fights that sky customers will get.

Looks like i will stick to sky shows and am really looking forward to Quigg vs Booth tomorrow night.

Is it good for the sport that Bellew v Cleverly was not shown on normal Sky, but instead a new channel that barely anyone knows about, has a marketing budget that would seem to consist of one work experience oik using twitter and boxing forums?

Is it good for the sport that Promoters are becoming increasingly split in terms of their platforms thus reducing the chances of cross-promotional ventures?

Is it good that in times of increasing hardship, particularly among the working classes, boxing fans are being asked to spend more money for effectively the same product?

I still don't know if Primetime is even available now on Virgin, it wasnt for a long time and i kind of gave up hope!

If you're using a cheap product, then don't be surprised if it's not as good. The channel is obviously in it's fledging days, Rome wasn't built in a day

They've had months to sort it out though. Plus, they then salvage it by putting the stream on which got a lot of praise. Only for them to do it as a one off and not carry it on. Very strange

You want to review your subscription mate - i pay just shy of £70 for full sky sports (including Sky Sports News), HD, multiroom, unlimited broadband and ESPN. Not sure what you've been quoted but they'd have to check in every "late night" channel before i'd even consider stumping up another £30 a month!
