No, I don't think it does. What it shows me is that people care about the BoxRec forum and want to express an opinion on it.

Yes, you make some good, valid points. I'm not sure how you square wanting more Spud-type threads with getting rid of idiots but maybe I've just misunderstood that.

How would threads have been 'trampled on' in the past? By good posters or by mods?

Anyway, I think it's good though we could do with more activity from good posters.

Clearly the best boxing forum around.

Even better when I post on it - the quality gets ramped up when that happens.

There are quite a few decent posters on here, probably the highest concentration for a British boxing forum. Not sure if it's respected though but possibly the most 'respectful' to the point of needing a sickbag when a boxer/promoter/other boxing industry type posts, which I suppose encourages those types to post. To counter that it does seem to have collected a few more trolls in recent years to go along with some posters who have an extremely high opinion of themselves.

The moderation seems to be pretty good though, not too many bun fights.

Full disclosure, I post on DHB.

It's the only forum I post on — nothing against the others, but I get all I want from a forum here and I respect the views of a lot of the posters who I have got to know (in a cyber sense) over the last few years. It has ups and downs - pretty much as Gomez says, if there's nothing happening then there's nothing to talk about. But when there is something to talk about I like the level of knowledge and discussion on here

Well - I`ve been posting here for much longer than most people who have commented on this page so far.

So my view ..

This forum was and still remains the best of its genre out there.
There isn`t anything like the cliques you get in some other forums on here.
Sure - some people will give more credence to certain posters if they have agreed to one of their points previously. But you see very little hounding of new posters if they disagree with a more established poster.
The moderation is spot on here too. Only once have I had a comment edited by a mod .. and with hindsight, it did me a favour.
One thing I will add. Just because a poster averages 2 - 3 - or 4 thousand posts a year ... doesn`t make them a good poster. Quality out weighs quantity :TU:

Long may Boxrec continue :TU:

It was joke, was trying to sneakily make Chambers realise that Hatton had more on the table :TU:

Or are you saying Witter was 'a popular, well recognised, legitimate champion who captured the imagination of TV viewers'!
At the time - I remember arguing with Chambers about the time South Korea had the all the light flyweight champions (The great Myuh Woo Yuh and Jung Koo Chang as well as Hi Sup Shin) back in 1987 and they never fought each other never mind tried to unify the titles
and Chambers was like 'who gives a fornicate'

I agree with the premise that Hatton could have fought him instead of midget man Bailey or Stephen Smith but hindsight and subsequent showings by Witter tells us that he would have probably been beaten by Hatton without too much drama. He wasn't the threat to Hatton that we (well me and some of us on here) thought he was.

We had about 6 Bellew threads this week

And I believe there has been an influx of tossers this year, but there are enough debates and quality posters on here to keep me coming back

We need a Trish :TU:

Remember when you first joined and compared it to the Masons.

I had an email from Neil last week. Shocker! Actually it was last month.
Is he still living up Erik Morales' arse?

Trish? I'd completely forgotten about that barmpot, and 'Warrior' Barry Scott......."I'm fighting in the Olympics for Ireland, I'll kill you all"

Loved that guy...

Best boxing forum i know, but if i'm honest, i've never had a desire to seek out any others so know very little about what else is out there.

I've not checked in on ESB in years, though i feel confident little will have changed. Considering the amount of nutjobs over there, i think ratio wise we are in good shape.

Long live Boxrec!

In no way was this thread started as a criticism of King Geedorah, i just saw his comments on the site and had been thinking along similar lines and wanted to know whether the site had seen better days or was it roughly the same. It seems that the forum ebbs and flows dependant upon the current issues of the day and that's understandable. Like someone said, the trolls on the site usually lose interest after a while and move on. I can see that opening new threads on topics that have been covered heavily may annoy people, but in the main i think its a great site with some good people on it and after a time you start to get to know people and have respect for what they may have to say. It can't always be perfect and suit everyones needs, but its the best forum i have been on.

ps King Geedorah, i wasn't disagreeing totally with what you said, your line was the match that lit the fire :TU:

The one reason that stops me giving up on ESB and coming over here ''full time'' is the posters that go all high and mighty when people make a criticism.

It doesn't take long for someone to come out with ''who have you beaten'' or ''which gym do you train at'', which is a shame. The level of debate over here is superior to ESB, but there you have a bit more licence to speak your mind without somebody coming on giving you a dressing down.

The odd idiot aside, it's a good forum over there, with higher volume so you're more likely to have a prolonged discussion rather than waiting a while for a reply.

This forum is better moderated, anyone stepping out of line is promptly sent packing, whereas I was permabanned from ESB on no fewer than five occasions for nothing other than saying that some of the articles on it are turd and for calling a pretty obvious alias a twat for constantly starting ''is X vs Y on TV'' threads, and other spurious ''offences''.

Oh, and the infamous ''Mods - you may take our lives, but you'll never take our freedom'' thread.

I've met about half a dozen of the lads off there at shows and all were absolutely sound. Even if one of them is a ginger haired Man Utd fan

I've been posting here for the best part of ten years and I always felt the golden era was around 2002-04 when there was just one forum.

But hindsight is 20-20 and all that. I also didn't know much about the sport so everyone else may have seemed more knowledgeable than they actually were. There were certainly 90 per cent less trolls around.

Very, very few trolls last on here, IMO. I'm amazed at how many come back though...some have probably had 100 fecking aliases.

i think the trolls are most noticeable right after a big fight - they just come out of the woodwork, particularly on the current scene. But there are no fights on any more :(
