I agree, he's done a brilliant job with Bradley.LeedsLad wrote:That offers an interesting perspective on the Khan/Bradley fiasco.
With the greatest respect Steve Wood isn't in the same planet as Dunkin, look at the guys he's worked with look at his current stable it's freaking scarily good.YOGI BEAR wrote:Steven Wood For Me. 100% Honest Straight Talking.El Raincoat wrote:The best Boxing manager in the world by a country mile.

Do me a favour !!! bringing one very talented fighter through to European level.........after all these years in the game makes him a poor manager in my opinion.
Jamie Moore was kept way to long at domestic and European level without being given a shot at a world title in his prime - that's not delivering in way shape or form in my opinion.

Your the one who's clueless Mickey !!
If the heading was nice guys who happen to be managers - then great throw Steve wood into the mix.
The best boxing manager in the world - I'm sorry but he doesn't even make the list.
What about the Ingles or allegedly - they both have proper track records !!

Being a good manager and having fighters that are successful are two different things.Johnny Cucumber wrote:Your the one who's clueless Mickey !!

The Ingle's success feeds off the back of their training. F.Warren's comes from him have huge pots of money so he can sign anyone he wants pretty much.
I know fighters who have been signed to all three mentioned above and if a poll was done of the most popular manager in this country Steve would top it.
In short, it's easier to LOOK like a good manager when you have the resources to always work with the top pros.
Steve doesn't get Olympic gold medalists and super prospects knocking on his door, he finds young working class lads in the North West and builds them up to being champions (often at his own expense). Look at the guy's record - John Murray, Martin Murray, Gary Sykes, Gary Davies, Jamie Moore, Tony Quigley, Matty Askin plus others all started out with him. Karl Place and Josh Warrington are two of the best upcoming fighters in this country.
Re: The best Boxing manager in the world
Yeah all of Steve's fighters have winning records where most managers will have their fare share of journey men

I have heard so many bad things about set woods . I wouldn't trust him with a barge pole. Sorry if you don't agree that's just my opinion and many others share it . He does a purpose though with his shows. But does the bad out weigh the good ????

Thank you, oh course we're not bashing Steve Wood. The subject isn't who's the best manager in Britain or best Manager in the North of Britain it's the best manager in the world and it's incredibly naive to place Steve in that sort of company. Yes he does a great job but if you read the article and still believe he's deserving of "The Best Boxing manager in the world" i'd be amazed and I say that with the greatest respect.twenty six wrote:I don't think anyone's havig a pop at Steve.

Steve Wood is excellent.
There have been a number of managers who have done very well for their boxers. Adam Booth maximised the earning potential for David Haye like no one else yet gets no credit for it.

Everyone leaves ste wood , must be something wrong. Jamie Moore should of been world champ and he messed that up I won't forgive him for that Jamie deserved that. He asnt had that much success either

Don't you think Frank Maloney is as much / more to blame regarding Jamie Moore ?

Ste Woods is one of the few people I actually trust in boxing. Really good guy. The hate in this thread is clearly from those with some alterior motive - or just making things up

Re: The best Boxing manager in the world
No mate not really a manager as too put his foot down with promotors if Maloney wernt delivering then take him else where but he wouldn't because of his own promotional interest . Hey I've commented on ste twice and this will be the last time I comment against him. I havnt anything against him and he does a brilliant small hall job and he is good for the development of young prospects. But I have heard bad things yes , it's not for me to say as I don't want to slag someone off I don't know , yes I've seen the Jamie thing myself and if a neutral ballot got done and that doesn't include ste freinds or end enemies the majority would say he done a bad job. And you forget I have replied to other people being critical about him when someone said he was best in world come on give your head a shake he asnt had any top level success and unless he puts the boxer before money and other promotional interests he will never have a world champ. Il never comment on ste again but you read neutrally what I've put and it makes sense and everyone knows ittwenty six wrote:Come on, Paddy.

Re: The best Boxing manager in the world
No pal, it makes no sense at all. Jamie was a domestic class amateur who was guided to british, commonwealth and European titles and the very fringes of world class despite having very little in terms of red carpet treatment. He did it the hard way and beat good fighters throughout his career.Paddy1 wrote:twenty six wrote: Il never comment on ste again but you read neutrally what I've put and it makes sense and everyone knows it
It all comes down to what you consider important in boxing but if you think that wearing a plastic belt that says WBx on it is more important then being credible and winning real titles, and beating top fighters.
