Where did you hear those rumors? I don't think this would be a good move for Tony at this point.
Re: Anyone else heard Rumors of a Bellew vs Huck Fight?
x2. Huck is a big, strong cruiser who's proven at world level - would be all wrong for Tony at this point in time.crusader wrote:Where did you hear those rumors? I don't think this would be a good move for Tony at this point.
Re: Anyone else heard Rumors of a Bellew vs Huck Fight?
No idea whether the fight has been offered but Tony is no kid, no novice and he has bills to pay. He isn't going to get any better, World Title fights don't come around every day, if it is there he should take it.

After the fight the German promoter was interviewed by Keys and Buncey, and he said that Tony was a boxer they were interested in, but he also said Huck wanted to go to heavyweight.crusader wrote:Where did you hear those rumors? I don't think this would be a good move for Tony at this point.
Re: Anyone else heard Rumors of a Bellew vs Huck Fight?
He's never fought at cruiser so why would he take this fight? He has also come on this forum and said he is staying at LHW so expect this rumour to just pass

Bellew against some kenyan for the interim WBO Cruiserweight title????Old bones Ian wrote:After the fight the German promoter was interviewed by Keys and Buncey, and he said that Tony was a boxer they were interested in, but he also said Huck wanted to go to heavyweight.crusader wrote:Where did you hear those rumors? Aparently Sauderland said they are looking at Bellew as possible opponent. I don't think this is a fight Tony should be taking at this point
Re: Anyone else heard Rumors of a Bellew vs Huck Fight?
I heard he is fighting clubber Lang for the ring heavyweight championship of the world. This fight is taking place after he KO superman and the incredible hulk in a prizefighter type tournament.
Re: Anyone else heard Rumors of a Bellew vs Huck Fight?
Bellew has fought above 175 on 12 occasions. He was 200lbs when I saw him blasting out Matthew Ellis in Belfast. Everyone was blasting Ellis out in a round at that time but Bellew was impressive at this weight.Josh1111 wrote:He's never fought at cruiser so why would he take this fight? Re: Anyone else heard Rumors of a Bellew vs Huck Fight?
he was walking around at 200lbs or so [when in training] a couple of weeks before the mooted Cleverly fight. He fought at heavyweight as an ama. I think it's fair to say he struggles a touch getting down to 175lbs.
Re: Anyone else heard Rumors of a Bellew vs Huck Fight?
Captain Huck looks an even lazier and economical version of the other German based fighter King Arthur.
If Bellew was to move up he would lose alot of his advantages he has at the moment at lt-heavy.
He wouldn't have size, strength or punch power advantages over Huck.
The safe money would be on a Huck KO victory.
Tony is not hard to hit, and his chin has proven less than reliable on a couple of occasions so far.
The problem Bellew has now is that he is a known quantity. His strengths and weaknesses are all known.
If he gets offered oppurtunities then they will be very much stacked against him. He will either have to work himself into contention .... or his promoter will have to open his wallet and pay big to get his chance.
And at this moment - his promoter will be looking to spend more on Cleverly.

Re: Anyone else heard Rumors of a Bellew vs Huck Fight?
You know it'd be an easy fight to make - Huck is fast running out of no name opponents to beat up on, and Tony would be a marquee type challenger, who can talk just as well as Haye - but unlike Haye, would actually come to fight.
Hucks likes a punch up, which would play to Bellew's strength, but Marco hits harder than Clev and it'd be a tough one over in Germany. But TB would have better than a punchers chance you'd think: Huck is good, but not exceptional.

This isn't a criticism, I mean that at his age, about 28 you are either going to be ready or you never will be, he is no novice who is still learning his craft.Deserter wrote:Why do you say that?Coco wrote:He isn't going to get any better.
Re: Anyone else heard Rumors of a Bellew vs Huck Fight?
bellew can easily move to cruiser but jumping up would be silly, he needs to build himself up a bit. but then turning down any such offer would be silly :!: just hope he's getting decent money & that his life & family benefit from it because he does seem a little bit soft being the first one to say come ed & all that

Re: Anyone else heard Rumors of a Bellew vs Huck Fight?
Don't worry, I know it's not a criticism, I was just surprised that you said that, as I would have thought that in the wake of his last fight he'll only be facing Euro/fringe world-level opponents and would learn and continue to improve accordingly. That's the normal progression of most fighters and 28 isn't that old - look at the way Martinez has improved in recent years despite his age.Coco wrote:This isn't a criticism, I mean that at his age, about 28 you are either going to be ready or you never will be, he is no novice who is still learning his craft.Deserter wrote:Why do you say that?Coco wrote:He isn't going to get any better.
Re: Anyone else heard Rumors of a Bellew vs Huck Fight?
I don't really disagree with you, probably a year down the line with a couple of Euro fights would be ideal, but I think if the chance is there he has to go for it, I don't feel Bellew will improve drastically, now is his time.Deserter wrote:Don't worry, I know it's not a criticism, I was just surprised that you said that, as I would have thought that in the wake of his last fight he'll only be facing Euro/fringe world-level opponents and would learn and continue to improve accordingly. I heard Kalle Sauerland mention his name after the Huck fight on Saturday night. But I think it was only a mention in passing rather than anything to get excited about.

I don`t really think that Tony would have a punchers chance as such .. I`m not convinced his punch is all it was made out to be. His last few fights as he has stepped up has kinda cast some doubt on his thunderous punching rep..
Cleverly got caught on a couple occasions with full blooded punches, and didn`t look even slightly in trouble.
I think Bellews best chance would be to box Huck if the match is made. But then again Cleverly was able to get inside of Bellew easy enough ... Huck would not be as quick as Cleverly for sure, but Bellew isn`t fast himself, so the the bigger stronger Huck would probably walk through Bellew as he launches one of his infamous charges.
It would be a good opportunity for Bellew. I just think he will now be cast as the safe, name challenger from now on instead of the prospect. I`m not convinced his promoter will be as generous to spend to get him opportunities.

First I have heard of this, I wonder what the man himself will say when he reads this? What do you think Bomber?

not to mention that Huck has a good chin.tonyevs wrote:MightyWarrior wrote: Hucks likes a punch up, which would play to Bellew's strength, but Marco hits harder than Clev and it'd be a tough one over in Germany. You reckon? Tony's not that stupid. He'd be on his bike (and rightly so), just like against Ovill McKenzie.MightyWarrior wrote:You know it'd be an easy fight to make - Huck is fast running out of no name opponents to beat up on, and Tony would be a marquee type challenger, who can talk just as well as Haye - but unlike Haye, would actually come to fight. .
Re: Anyone else heard Rumors of a Bellew vs Huck Fight?
I think Bellew would be a better fighter at cruiser, it's been my opinion for quite some time, and him fading in the Cleverly fight (despite scoring it for him) only strengthened that view.
Huck is good but not that good, if Tony has dreams of becoming a genuine world champion that's the kind of fighter he ought to be able to beat.
Huck is what he is, quite strong and has a fair dig, but has average stamina and doesn't take the best punch. Despite being a "world champion" he's only fought two genuine world class fighters, one stopped him and the other was ripped off on the cards. Tony would be the 3rd best opponent he's had probably.

Hucks crap and had more gifts than I care to remember.
His decision win over Lebedev - who spanked him - just about sums up German crookedness.
