michael brodie - chin up
I saw Buncey on tv last week going on about the best fighter never to win a world title, and sayin Herol Bomber Graham.
Another one who is defo up there has to be michael brodie - by rights he shoulld have been champ after getting robbed in his home town.
Brodie was one of the most talented fighters this country has had over last few yerars, unfortunately one of the laziest too! n probably never achieved his potential. He was one of my fave fighters though.
Heard some sad news last week, he is currently remanded in jail, been told to expect 4 - 7 years, i know he has found retirement hard. Its a shame though cos everyone knows what a tough sport boxing is - he was arguably in the top 5 british fighters at one point but probably earnt less in his carer than the 500th best british footballer earns in a year

Definitely, really sad if it's true. Felt for him when he got smashed on his comeback recently ...Jeff Thomas wrote:What for? Poor fella good luck to him
Re: michael brodie - chin up
I just watched Brodie - Chi I again, first time since the actual fight night. Unbelieveable how it went 12 rounds, it looked like Brodie was about to go in the second but the comeback in the last minute really epitomised him as a fighter. He played into Chi's hands in that fight and if he had of used his superior technical skills he probably would have won it. I scored the fight aswell - finished up with a 114-113 victory to Chi so the knockdown was decisive on my card, for what it's worth.
Sad to hear he has got himself into trouble but the crime and the time have to come together. Hope he can sort himself out.

Re: michael brodie - chin up
Sad to hear, Brodie was always one of my favourite fighters
and just to add, as it's a bit of a one man crusade of mine, he wasn't robbed against Jorrin

All sorts of people get in and out of taxis, got an obvious defence to put forward.1966cantona wrote:was working as as taxi driver. LOTs of drugs found in car, not looking good for him unfortunately

it is sad to see, I shouldn't say it just 'cos it's him but fook it, I hope he gets away with it.
I'm suprised he didn't go into training, it would be nice if somebody jumped in, like Hatton, considering he set up his ill fated last fight, and gives him some sort of mentor/coaching job.

Re: michael brodie - chin up
Thats a real shame, he had 40 odd fights, was British, Commonwealth and European champion, and challenged for genuine world titles on a number of occassions, he was involved in many big nights. For him to be at the wheel of a taxi so soon after retiring is sad to hear.G0mez wrote:I saw a lad saying he booked a taxi to go to a fight , he got in and Brodie was the driver!

If innocent, I hope that he is found innocent.
If guilty, I hope that he is found guilty and receives an apporopriate sentence.
Seems reasonable ?

Re: michael brodie - chin up
Must have banked a good few quid he had a cracking career and I know Jack Trickett absolutely loved him. Wonder what he waxed his money on to end up a taxi driver? Ching, ale and loose women would be my bet. And Im guessing he just wasted the rest....

I heard his wife left him and got the house and most of the money, which led to the comebacks...TheGoods wrote:Must have banked a good few quid he had a cracking career and I know Jack Trickett absolutely loved him. Will keep my fingers crossed for Brodie, he was a fantastic fighter and earned every penny he made.
