Re: USA BOXING DOES IT AGAIN!!
why not use coaches at camps that have the international experience and have been to previous Olympics and had nationals champions. They can also serve as advisers at the camps, work with boxers at the camp under the direction of the National coach.
Al Mitchell, Tom Mustin, Candy Lopez, Jessie Ravello, Israel Acosta, Brashir Abdullah and many others. They don't have to go to the Tournaments but USA Boxing can request their assistant to help at the camps, That is the problem, we don't use our resources, they are more into friendship than knowledge.

I am not sure what you mean. All of the above have not only worked camps but have also coached at international events. Can you clarify your point for me?Al Mitchell, Tom Mustin, Candy Lopez, Jessie Ravello, Israel Acosta, Brashir Abdullah and many others. That is exactly what I mean, use those coaches who have been there like the ones i mention especially in camps.

The Pan Am coaches have all had international and camp experience. Does this clarify your point? That is exactly what I mean, use those coaches who have been there like the ones i mention especially in camps.
Re: USA BOXING DOES IT AGAIN!!
No you do not clarify anything and don't get the point. Just because they have been in some international camps or competition, don't mean anything, Pan-am games, World championships, and Olympic games are major tournaments and experience is need it. I have boxed under almost all of them, so I know who is who. Not trying to put any of those coaches down from this pan-am games, just over all, they should use some of those old coaches as advisers in this major camps and help out if they are available and willing. If you look at the past history from this coaches, there is allot of knowledge there.
Re: USA BOXING DOES IT AGAIN!!
Experience isn't everything. Coaches need to be able to analyze opponents strengths & weaknesses and do the same with their own boxers. From that they need to draw up a game plan with a couple of options. They also need to be able to think on the fly and adapt their gameplan when something happens like an injury.
Coaches need to motivate. They also need to be able to teach and be willing to work hard to get the job done. Some older coaches get burned out and are no longer willing to put forth the necessary effort.
Finally, a willingness to continue to learn, develop new training techniques and adapt to changes in rules so their boxers can succeed.

Re: USA BOXING DOES IT AGAIN!!
Wow, Ok, good luck USABoxing.... I understand just what you are trying to say Newyork. Just hope we get it together soon, USA is cleaning up at the pan-am games with medals In all sports, 0 in boxing, not even 1 win at all. Don't matter what excuses we continue to bring out, something is definite wrong, and I have heard a few good comments here.
Re: USA BOXING DOES IT AGAIN!!
USA does well in most sports & should be doing better than we are in boxing. Other NGB's have figured out how to raise money, get sponsors, travel often for international competitions & win. It's time for it to happen in boxing.

Re: USA BOXING DOES IT AGAIN!!
I'm sorry but we can put blame on the coaches all day but blame needs to be channeled all around. Boxers come from different coaching styles and perform differently on international stages because it's a new coach. It's like what Dennis said in regards to research of opponents, gameplans and just more international experience in general.
Plus just give credit where credit is due. These other countries have developed strong programs and have maintained consistency throughout. It's like 1992 with Basketball, the Dream Team brought other countries to another level in regards to trying to compete and now they really compete. Every world championship, pan am etc same coach in the other corner and same boxer. We have amazing talent, which needs to be groomed in Olympic style boxing. USA Boxing has no type of grassroots program and the one that was around has been MIA for months...! Adding coaches with success on the international level won't always translate to a guaranteed win. It's more factors to consider.
