Punchbag advise

Alright folks,
I'm looking at getting a punchbag in my garage, nothing serious, just to help with fitness more than anything else.

I've had a look around are there are various different options, 25kg-50kg, 3ft-5ft.

What do you guys advise the best option is? And also any ideas where i can get a cheap bag from? I dont want to pay too much

don't go too light of bag. The standard is probably a 70 lb bag, which would probably be fine with you. You should go to a 100 lb bag if you weigh over 200 lbs. I would save some money and get a nice leather bag from Ringside, i think cost would be about $150.

This really depends on what sort of space/height you have to hang the bag, what sort of weight the fixing point will take and how much room you have for 'swing'?

A general reccomendation if the odds are stacked against you would be to get a 5' thai style bag as the extra length means you can hit it in the middle with some force and it won't swing too far, thereby replicating a bag that's a lot heavier.

In relation to cost a bag is basically a sewn sack filled with cut rag. Some at the top end may have a rubber/foam lining and others at the rock bottom end of the market a cardboard tube rammed down the centre.

Leatherette or PVC is fine and you probably won't need to shell out on chains either.
