Post by bad mamma jamma »

katsidis reckons its a possibility, said it on buncey's show tonight. boxing news had an interview with him this week saying thats it for him. katsidis seems sure it could happen. surely not?

Should have happened years ago. I have no interest in seeing Hatton again.

Of course it can happen, this is boxing, hatton maybe retired but a 144lb fight with katsidis could be rickys way to go out on a win and give the fans one more chance to watch him, I think katsidis is only building up a massive pay day but I can't blame him !

How's that? Ricky should have fought a career lightweight instead of who? Gone to war with him as a comeback after Mayweather perhaps?

Yes, instead of Lazcano. The fight was seriously talked about at this time and would have made good viewing. I always thought it would be good prep for a Cotto fight. Ricky didn't fight many World level operators with Katsidis's type of style.

The only way that Ricky would be a slightly happier sole is if he could avenge that defeat to Pacquaio and the manner in which he lost, any other fight is meaningless at this stage. I think he has been out of game too long as his mind is firmly fixed on staying retired. He has made money, been a two weight world champion, had some good fights and lost to the two p4p best fighters in his era, so a fight with Katsidis would prove or achieve nothing. He would never get a shot against manny anyway, as he perhaps only has 2 or 3 fights left in him including the up and coming fight with Marquez. If Hatton would have lost that fight to Manny convincingly, but not in that rather humiliating way and gone maybe 7 or 8 rounds, i think he would have been very satisfied with how his career ended. Stay retired Ricky, the game is up, your a spent force mentally, your heart isn't where it should be and in that state the ring is no place to be, even against a shop soiled Katsidis.

Dont forget, Hatton spent almost £3m on his gym in Hyde and is pretty much losing money on most shows he puts on. At that rate, it wont be long till he's running out of money. A big pay day for one last fight might just tempt him, you never know

Josh,
You are dillusional if you think that Hatton's losses to date are at a level to cause him a problem with his personal wealth.
Every new Promotor loses money for at least the first five years - it's the only way to get established.

I never said it would happen, i just said it might. I met Hatton a few months ago and what a top bloke but even then, he was still talking at times like he might consider it.

Not disputing that promoters dont lose money, course they do. But not many can last the 5 years you talk about.

All I was saying it might happen, you never know. Personally i dont think and dont want it to happen. I was just trying to give another angle on things

Hattons still young enough to come back imo and i dont think losses to PBF and Pac indicate that he cant cut it against katsidis. Imo Katsidis is made for hatton, not only would the fight look great but hatton would smash him to pieces at LWW.

I cant see hatton coming back though.

There's more chance of Usman Ahmed sparking Oliver McCall with a jab than there is of this fight happening

After 2 & 1/2 years out of the ring, Hatton is sure to be in a right state physically. Christ, he used to be no more than a couple of months out of the gym between his fights and he'd put on three stone.

Hatton seems to have come to terms with being an ex-boxer, I can't see him coming back. He'd have battered Katsidis in his prime as well.
