Laying on the ropes and countering isn't a good idea against Marciano. He would sledgehammer Toney's sides and arms until he was too exhausted to punch.

Hey Mark, good thread.... where ever did you get the idea? :TU:

Toney doesn't hit hard enough to stop Rocky. Marciano works him hard and wins easily on what would be a very painfull night for Lights Out.

Rocky, in about 10, for me.

As Saad said, if Marciano couldn't hit the head all that much, he'll hit him everywhere else, arms, body etc...A proper wear down job.

Probably not a clear KO, as in the count reaches 10. A stoppage or retirement.

I thought he was KO several times but Rocky was the first to do it, I just read he drew his first fight AKA BHOP and he lost only the one time by UD before fighting Marciano. I think he must of been close to 40 in that fight
Before fighting Marciano, Moore was stopped by the following fighters:

1-21-1944 - Eddie Booker, Hollywood, CA TKO by 8
8-22-1945 - Jimmy Bivins, Cleveland KO by 6
1-13-1948 - Ezzard Charles, Cleveland KO by 8
6-2-1948 - Leonard Morrow, Oakland KO by 1

I can only remember Toney hitting the deck once and that was against Jones Jnr
Moore scored a flash knockdown in the second round. He was knocked down five times himself.

This is what I think makes the fight so interesting because rocky would no doubt be the stronger man while Toney is the better boxer. How much success would Toney have keeping Rocky off him and doing what you said.

This is a classic match up
I don't think he would have any success keeping him off of him. It has some stylistic intrigue, but i don't see it being competitive, much less classic.

LOL, no big deal. Old Archie and Toney would have been a better match up. James would have a shot there.

Toney loses, by stoppage. Marciano is like Jirov only much much better and a much harder hitter.

Toney would lose to Moore as well.

Reggie Johnson decked Toney in what I think was his 2nd MW title defense. It was a very close fight that could have gone either way, and Sam Peter dropped Lights Out, as well in there 2nd bout.

Johnson was a real knockdown, I thought it was enough to win the fight.

Reggie Johnson and Sam Peter knocked him down. Jones bodychecked him, that shouldn't have been counted.

Jones hit him, he lost his balance and went down. It was a legit knockdown.

a punch did land but it was jones jumping into him which put him over, that's not a knockdown in my eyes.
