Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3

Post by Tunney »

The media in Finland is reporting Chisora will fight Helenius on Dec 3 in Helsinki, probably for the EBU title.

Good matchup. :TU:

It's not a good match-up for the European title though is it? Even in the crazy world that is boxing ratings, Fury has got to be above Chisora.

Surely this will be the EU title? What about Dimetrenko - he is still champ of the EBU title proper?

Helenius is an interesting figure in the Heavyweights, so much is talked about him but he is still not even nominated to fight for the EBU title proper.

Helenius has the EBU-EU (European Union) title, and Dimitrenko has the EBU (European) title. Helenius is Dimitrenko's mandatory for the (EBU) European title.

But the reports say it will be for Dimitrenko's EBU title. Maybe they have it confused - we'll know more after Sauerland's official announcement later today.

True. But if Helenius wins, it sets up an interesting Fury-Helenius showdown in 2012.

Agreed. How can someone get a shot after losing so convincing in that fight. That's boxing

Yeah, I saw as much. I saw the posters got changed to TBA but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Just mildly curious, I have tickets.

The EBU will make a decision by next week whether to strip Dimitrenko for not fighting his mandatory Helenius.

According to the Finnish media, if he's stripped, Helenius-Chisora will be for the EBU (European) title.

Otherwise it will be for the lesser EBU-EU (European Union) title currently held by Helenius.

Sod the titles. I like the fight as long as Chisora takes it seriously.

Don't fancy Del's chances in this one to be honest. Helenius looks too big and too strong. Chisora will be stuck on the end of a ramrod jab for as long as this lasts.

I don't blame Dimitrenko for giving Helenius the swerve.

The Finn isn't any great shakes and Del is more than capable of doing a number on him, but Dimitrenko would be annihilated.

We saw how Chambers dominated him using little more than movement and flurries, one dodgy scorecard aside it was pretty much a whitewash.

He's decent, no more, no less in my opinion.

Pretty much where I see Chisora, aside from the poor showing against Fury. It's down to him to show that he really ''wants'' it and to come back from the defeat.

Dimitrenko is absolute cack, Helenius would stop him in the mid/late rounds, Del would probably take a decision - assuming the judges have eyes of course.

I'd make Helenius the favourite against Chisora don't get my wrong, but to suggest he's no chance is foolish IMO.

The guy is almost 6'7 and can box and bang.

Liakhovich, Sam Peter, Lamon Brewster - all knocked out.

This isn't a bad fight at all imo.

I don't care what belt it's for, Chisora's barney with Fury was entertaining enough to keep the casuals in my house amused for 12 rounds, I don't see why he couldn't give it another go.

Helenius has looked spectacular finishing fights, but he's shown flaws aplenty along the way. Chisora being able to plant a few on him isn't that implausible.

Depends on whether Chisora wants it or not, I suppose. He showed a fair amount of grit in there with Fury, and his late round rally was Williams/Tyson-esque, minus the payoff, still a gutsy old effort though.

Looking forward to it, hope it comes off.

Sprott.

Sprott was beaten by Tye Fields, man, and Dimitrenko. He's garbage.

Chisora would beat Dimitrenko with ease if he showed up in shape.

Based on? Chisora's only wins of consquence were over Sam Sexton, who is not much better than a domestic operator. His next best wins were probably over Carl Baker and a totally shot Danny Williams.

Given his limited resume and his once-sided loss to Fury, I don't understand how anyone could think that Chisora would 'do a number on' Dimitrenko or Helenius.

If Chisora comes in looking like he did for the last fight against Fury, then he's getting KO'd big style. I can't see where Del can go after this fight. Helenius is strong, has a great chin and can bang with the best of them out there bar the Klits.

I like how Helenius is getting moved along. I think Price and Fury will have to go through him if they want any part of the European belts, looks like Helenius is going to clear those belts up.

This is a good fight regardless of the belt involved. A tough match up, dificult to call between two euro level contenders, both of whom have demonstrated potential world title holding attributes in the past. A win for either elevates them up a class or two.

Helenius would have to be favourite, but Chisora definitely has a chance if motivated.

What is intruiging is that if Povetkin v Fury does get made for early 2012, there could well be a box-off between the respective winners....

Fury - Helenius
Povetkin - Helenius
Povetkin - Chisora
Fury - Chisora II

Good, competitive fights all (if Chisora is of the right mindset)
