It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say Chris Bryd has shown stellar skills during his career. There aren't too many guys that could stand right in front of an in-shape David Tua for 12 rounds and not get knocked out. Byrd barely caught a punch flush.

In terms of pure skills, at least defemsive ones, Byrd is one of the best heavyweights in history. He just lacks the pop of a true heavyweight. Would have probably done a lot better back in the era of smaller heavyweights, after all, he weighs more than ali and Frazier did in their prime, but in his case, a lot of it is fat and unneccesary bulk, not strength.
