Amar out of English title fight

Post by Podmore_Birmingham »

Just thought i'd let you know Adnan Amar has pulled out of his English welterweight title defence against James Flinn on Saturday night, as i've wrote below.

http://midlandsboxing.blogspot.com/2011 ... title.html

Not spamming or advertising my one-man site, by the way, but thought this was a story of interest.

Amar pulls out of a fight for the 3rd or 4th consecutive time, dude if you can't make 147 don't take fights there. if you don't really want to box all that much, whicvh is distinctly the impression i get, don't take fights at all, maybe?

glad they found a half-decent replacement, anyway. thanks for the update Tom :TU:

I'm just glad that they found a replacement with such a similar name.

Gutted, was really hoping that Flinn could bring the English title back to Coventry. Is Amar finally going to be stripped of his title?

Not sure if he will as it was only voluntary defence. But it's a shame that it's off; i was looking forward to see how James was going to do against a back-footed pot-shotter.

Completely agree, the English title needs to be available for fighters to contest. A stepping stone for some and sometimes the pinnacle for others.

Has anyone else been so inactive with that level of title?

For the record, Adnan has told me a chest infection has forced him to pull out of the contest. The winner of Flinn-Anwar will be the new English champion.

Excellent news, cheers for the updates. Good news for Flinn. How often do you update your local blog by the way?

I do a piece [at least] per day. And though only a niche site, I get around 400 individual hits per day.

Great blog that Tom, used to enjoy reading some of your West Mids based stuff a while back, cant think what on.

Don't live in the West Mids anymore so that blog will be a good little way of keeping up to date with the Midlands scene.

Although it's a few levels up, what about Guillermo Jones (WBA Cruiserweight) what is it now? 2 defences of a world title in 3 years or something crazy

Thanks, chief. That would have been when i wrote for BritishBoxing.net, which vanished without a trace years back. But i've only just moved back to the Midlands after three years at uni in West Yorkshire. Pre-uni, i was in Birmingham all my life but now live in Nottingham. Trying to get a balance of both West and East Midlands stuff to appease all.

Yeah that was it fella, shame what happened there.

I remember the Midlands content dipped for quantity and quality when you went to uni.

Good luck with it anyway mate, I'll certainly be having a look regurlarly.

He's a decent little prospect and his debut, against a winless but hard-fighting Welshman, will have done him the power of good. Once he'd settled, his punches flowed very fluidly.
