Very enlightening interview from Tyson Fury. I genuienly had no idea that he suffered with such depression. He always comes across as fairly happy go lucky to me.

Hopefully this won't affect his performance because although he has his limitations I think he's one of our brightest prospects and we should be getting fully behind him.

I had never though of Fury as a the depressive sort either but then that's not unusual. The same with Ricky Hatton.

Hopefully he he can find some peace as he gets older.

I have to say I always thought Fury was a ridiculous, obnoxious pillock, but I'm really starting to warm to him. I never thought he'd be the one to emerge from our current crop of young heavyweights but he's proving me wrong.

I've always been a fan of him. Yes he talks bollocks but it's always done a bit tongue in cheek and given his background I actually think he comes across well most of the time.

I like Fury, he's a great character, though not really a fan of his boxing ( though he's a brave fighter alright ) - but this is surpising to read, when you watch what a great laugh he is in the Jane Couch video. Typical insightful piece by Donald McRae.

Can't believe he's having suicidal thoughts and no-ones bothering to get him any help. He's clearly a manic depressive, and needs looking after ASAP. I wonder what MH is doing about this ? It better not be nothing, all he has to do is look at what happened to Darren Sutherland.

His depression is also clearly something that he has had to live with for a long time as he's saying all of these things in front of his wife who seems to acknowledge that it is a problem. The most alarming thing he said for me was about his life imploding if he lost a fight. It seems boxing provides a welcome relief to him but his mental turmoil can't help in the long run.

Do you know much about what happened to Darren Sutherland? I would be very interested to know more. I was asked a while back to do a radio piece about him but I've been putting it off because I don't know where to start really and I was put of by all the lurid tittle-tattle I'd been reading.

Just what I read, and also Frank M spoke about it too. That Darren suffered from depression - though everyone thought he was coping at the time - similar tragic story last year in football, over the German national side goalkeeper. Sounds like Tyson needs some help, there's just no way he should have to function under a cloud like that.

Copied the depressing bits word for word. I assume McRae has allowed him to do this for a fee as it's blatant copyright infringement otherwise. The contrast between the quality of the two articles in terms of balanced journalism indicates just what a shit rag the Sun is.

Sounds like Tyson needs some psychological care. Manic depression is a horrible beast to deal with, not in a job as tough as boxing.
