Ok, after a few false starts I’m finally arranging a US boxing trip.

Thanks to Loynesy for his helpful input.

This is mainly for the members of the white collar boxing club I go to. So it should be definitely going ahead but the more the merrier – It would great if a Boxrec contingent could make it.

This is what I’ve come up with.

Virgin flight to Los Angeles on Thurs 6th October. (The direct flight to Vegas is virtually full already)

Collection from the airport by Limo bus for bit of a road trip to Vegas
(if the party is big enough then we’ll switch up to the Land Yacht, yes... "Land Yacht!")

3 nights in a hotel on the Strip - looking like either The Aladdin or Tropicana at the moment (individual rooms, no sharing).

The $100 tickets for Corrales v Castillo II (front of balcony)

Limo to Las Vegas airport

Flight from Las Vegas to Los Angeles

Return flight home on Sunday 9th October, Arriving Monday.

Total cost £900 all in.

It's not cheap but i'm pretty sure it can't possibly be done any cheaper than this.

So who’s game?

Its a shame the fight isnt in November as me and 7 other lads from the local pub are having a jolly boys outing in Vegas for a week.

Remember it has to include the flights, limos, single room in a hotel on the south of the strip (Tropicana is between MGM Grand & The Luxor) & fight tickets.

And i'm not talking about a United Airlines via Chicago then via Dallas 16+ hour journey type deal.

Go to STA Travel and book a flight to Los Angeles, it will cost about 290 quid, you can get a student card from STA with a fake letter from any college or university in London. It should be from the Deanery.

Internal flight to vegas will be about 70 dollars.

You can stay at the MGM grand for about 100 dollars a night, so that's another 1ner.

I reckon with spending money for a long weekend you could do it for about 600 quid.

It's 3 nights in Vegas, STA Travel shows the cheapest direct flights for £370 the available internal flights are closer to £150 now.

You'd only get that sort of rate at the MGM if you turn up on the night and they have free rooms that would otherwise go empty. On a big fight night it's not a risk i'm going to take.

The £600 didn't include and airport transfers or the fight ticket either.

I'd be happy to be proved wrong but i don't want it look like i'm trying to rip anybody off.

When i went to Hopkins-DLH last year with Benz Travel it was around a grand without spending money so i am sure Shirow isn't trying a rip off, it sounds like a good deal. The Tropicana is a good hotel too.

Can't believe I was standing next to you at the weigh-in Steve, and never got the chance to talk.

Could have went for a pint or ten.

Overhand_right would be great to go to Vegas with - given his knowledge of 80's heavys. Random security guards and construction workers would be once again exposed as the heroes they once were.

Vegas is great in big fight time. Everywhere everyone is talking boxing, boxing, boxing. You may have the chance to meet old characters who have been going to big fights there for years, and have amazing stories you'd never otherwise know about.

But as for this fight: I fear for Chico.

Yes it was a shame Manos, however at the weigh in i had two Mexican beauties next to me cheering on De La Hoya so not too bad

Vegas is a great place come fight time, there is a real buzz around the city.

Lol, looking at that photo i must have been about a row away from you...Antonio Tarver was doing TV work on the far left of that stage if i remember correctly.

Yeah that's right, he was right at the end of the stage doing TV work with a burgundy sports coat on. MAB was nearby in the crowd - right down at the left hand side.

My biggest regret was not going over to Mike McCallum. NOBODY knew who he was, let alone was going up to him. I was in awe when I first saw him.

Yeah the ignorance at McCallum was terrible...when he was announced there was barely a clap except for me whaling my hands together

On MAB asi was walking out i saw him standing near a fire exit with his father and a minder, i ran over with a pen and paper i had borrowed from a lady in a black gospel group waiting for there coach and got his autograph...he was never said a word or smiled...all business.

Cotto was a miserable sod though, i shook his hand with a mobile phone in it and he just glared at me. Loads of stars there after the weigh in.

A little update....

We're definitely still going.

But the numbers are not as high as i expected. (City highfliers with deep pockets MY ARSE)

Anyway BA are dangling a special offer group rate under my nose if i can get 4 more people. I would then be able to make it £800 each.

I abandoned the roadtrip from LA idea for domestic flights.

If anyone is interested pm me your email address and i'll send over a pdf i made with all the details.
But i'll need to know for definate pretty much immediately.

Cannot commit just yet, depends on money. Meant to be going to Barcelona for 3 days in October, but could maybe squeeze this in.

Flights can be got cheaply in October, and rooms at the MGM grand are cheap anyway, might try and do this one and see if Max can get me a cred.

I can get his ticket reissued for a fee so i'm running a last minute auction with a reserve of £300.
