Also speculatively backed the draw in Hopkins-Dawson and Bellew by KO at 11/2

Great weekends gambling! Could not have gone better!SteveDow wrote:Weekend bets for me are: Very large on Frankel to win at Ascot on Saturday at 4/11 and small on France to beat Wales at 5/4 in the rugby. Also have a treble on Frankel, NZ to beat Aus and Degale to win at 2.3 medium.

The ref in the B-Hop fight has cost me, think i'll have to get onto skybet and see what happens if the result gets overturned

Update:
If the WBC do overturn the result, the bookies will revisit the bets

Re: Betting thread
I was just looking through the boxing market for the next few weeks and two set of odds stood out:
Carl Johannesson is 5/2 to beat Karl Place. Place will be the bigger man but has never been in with anyone of Carls calibre before. Johannesson is a bully in the the ring and still has a bit to offer. May be worth a punt.
Edgar Sosa is 5/1 to beat Wonjongkam. I love Wonjongkam but he isn't getting any younger and he has looked a bit shaky in his last two title defenses. Sosa was a top Light Flyweight and has made an impressive start to his Flywieght campaign so he is also worth a punt imo although I would love to see Wonjongkam do the business (again).

Re: Betting thread
They were the standouts to me as well.
I also think Ustinov is over rated and the 14/1 on Bakhtov is too large, but that said I doubt he will win.

Re: Betting thread
Yeah, Ustinov is a big, strong and powerful lump, but he's not good technically. He seems to have a good chin as well. Bakhtov is a decent boxer, but he's small, and it looks like he was shut out in his last fight, so I worry about a journeyman mentality.littlekinny wrote:They were the standouts to me as well.

WBC change the decision of Hopkins v Dawson. Take your betting slips back to the bookies and you might get lucky

Carling Cup again tonight and that part time footballer Michael Own to score against Aldershot @ 10/11 is my play for this evening.

Nice one. He's won you money before, hasn't he?Hagler2002 wrote:Carling Cup again tonight and that part time footballer Michael Own to score against Aldershot @ 10/11 is my play for this evening.

Had him in the last round when they played Leeds, when he plays he generally scores.Asterix wrote:Nice one. He's won you money before, hasn't he?Hagler2002 wrote:Carling Cup again tonight and that part time footballer Michael Own to score against Aldershot @ 10/11 is my play for this evening.

Lee Purdy to stop Colin Lynes tonight @ 13/8 makes some appeal.....Purdy coming off two great stoppage wins against Craig Watson & Lynes in the twilight of his career.
Re: Betting thread
Yep, I'm on this aswell. A real crossover fight and the young gun should prevail unless Lynes can produce one last massive effort which I doubt.Hagler2002 wrote:Lee Purdy to stop Colin Lynes tonight @ 13/8 makes some appeal.....Purdy coming off two great stoppage wins against Craig Watson & Lynes in the twilight of his career.
Re: Betting thread
Chandlers had Purdy at 9/4 this morning, by the time I signed up and made a deposit they were in to 7/4, somebody obviously lumped on right there and then.
I got 15/8 with Betfred, might add to that if I do alright trading the football.

Treble for me this weekend: Spain to beat England in the football, Pacman to beat Marquez and Fury to win. Odds of 2.58 with Victor Chandler. Cannot believe Spain are as long as 19/20 to beat England given England are missing Rooney, Gerrard and Terry and Spain have sent their strongest squad.

Spain do look a good price, but id never bet on friendlys...
Re: Betting thread
I know what you mean but Del Bosque sounds really up for this, the big Wembley pitch will suit Spain's passing game down to the ground and I think they'll be looking to make a real statement here.Tommy Gunn13 wrote:Spain do look a good price, but id never bet on friendlys...
Re: Betting thread
Had a small punt on Cue Card for todays 4.05pm at Cheltenham at 7/4 with Sky bet. He's in to 13/8 now. Grands Crus is the main danger but the ground being good won't suit him and Cue Card looked good last time out.
Re: Betting thread
Will take Fury to win by dec/tech dec @ 7/2.
Got Ireland, Scotland, Germany on a treble - pays about 15/2

Got a small bet on Prospect Wells 255 Cheltenham @ 9/2
Re: Betting thread
I think that price is massive and even if we had our strongest team I'd probably still have it shorter.SteveDow wrote:Treble for me this weekend: Spain to beat England in the football, Pacman to beat Marquez and Fury to win. Seriously considering having a biggish bet (for me) on Spain. My only niggle is that last time I did this in similar circumstances was when we played Brazil in a friendly and it ended up in a draw.

Re: Betting thread
After hours of research I'm going with Estonia & The Republic Of Ireland to draw 1-1 based on the fact of today's date been 11-11-11
Get on, get on indeed!

Re: Betting thread
I've gone for Spain in a fairly big for me bet. Foolish English punters are helping out the odds big time. Spain are on a record run, have picked their best squad available and will be up against the likes of Gareth Barry in the middle of the pitch.
I can't see how they can't win
(I also can't remember the last time I had a win of any note by the way and managed to get through the rugby world cup without a win at all)

Re: Betting thread
Ireland to win 1-0 @ 5/1. I can see us scoring early and then doing a "Trap Special" by parking the bus. We keep most of our clean sheets away from home aswell.
Also went with Ireland 1-0 HT/Ireland 1-0 FT @ 14/1
Robbie Keane to score anytime @ 21/10 - he has a knack of scoring in playoffs.
I also that bet for Spain to beat England. I'll hop on that bandwagon @10/11
