Chisora on now, only just in from work. How's the Halifax show panning out so far?
Re: McKenzie-Evans show on Allegedly channel
Bollocks, stepped out for the loo and McKenzie has won already.

I missed it as well.

Trading on the ropes was always going to be suicide for Evans and so it proved.

Poor show, worried we'll get these regular when it goes pay
Re: McKenzie-Evans show on Allegedly channel
They're talking about a fight between Enzo and Nathan Cleverly. Surely that won't be made, will it?

'Tell the lad to pick his chin up...'
Ha Ha snappy line from Rawling. Pick it up off the floor does he mean.

Re: McKenzie-Evans show on Allegedly channel
Evans got mullered. Mismatch. All about levels I guess, McKenzie under-rated and Evans never been up at any sort of decent level.

Got to talk about something. Time to fill
Re: McKenzie-Evans show on Allegedly channel
They just said that Enzo wobbled Haye in their fight. It's been a while but can't say I remember that.
Re: McKenzie-Evans show on Allegedly channel
Me neither, think he might have got a couple of jabs off and that was that, genuinely can't remember anything like Haye being wobbled.steve689 wrote:They just said that Enzo wobbled Haye in their fight. It's been a while but can't say I remember that.
Re: McKenzie-Evans show on Allegedly channel
In fact I seem to remember at the time it was Rawling commentating and he was landing punches for Enzo! Calling shots as hitting the target that actually weren't.

People will say they just wanted to give Chisora some rounds. He 100% has harder sparring sessions the local lads fight was ok but the main event was a mismatch(although i know no one ever wants to fight mckenzie so dunno what they could do there?) but it was hardly a main event fight. Well as its free it is but i wouldnt be paying £10p.m for it
I presume the Cotto-Margarito fight is more of a draw for the money. Tonight's show was just a space filler.

As for tonight's main event, please don't judge Jeff on just 15 seconds. He didn't have the time to show what he can do, riding out the early storm was the key for Jeff but if you switch off for a split second against McKenzie then there's every chance you'll pay for it. Jeff will bounce back and continue his education, there's not many better men than Gary for that.
Also, credit to Ovill for not celebrating and making sure Jeff was okay.

Lots of news that fight won't go ahead due to margarito not having licence to box in new York!gobbles wrote:billy bessey wrote:poor show tonight dunno what Nurse could have learned from that in hes 20th fight??? i know they say its hard to match him well in that case get the pennies out. Evans HAS to be judged on tonight. He was tactically deficient, couldn't carry out his corner's instructions and was levelled by the first decent punch he took. I don't doubt he's not a nice guy but boxers, just as we all are as individuals, are here to be judged. If we can't judge Evans on tonight, when can we?
Re: McKenzie-Evans show on Allegedly channel
If Maccarinelli can beat McKenzie for the Commonwealth title, does it make a fight againt Cleverly for the WBO title respectable?

It Was the entire card, not just the main event that was pish, Nurse v tough but very limited journeyman, Chisora v much smaller journeyman, Ovill v untested Evans. A pretty pathetic card that had Paul Smith comparing the lithuanian to Frazier, Tyson and Holyfield...Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:Its easy to say now but Evans is better than that!!! I can give you ten million reasons why Clev doesn't need Enzo in any way whatsoever. No offence to Enzo but he has nothing to offer Clev.Ben Carey wrote:Why wouldn't Cleverly and Enzo happen? And you could judge Jeff when you've watched his other fights, not 15 seconds. Jeff is learning his trade and he jumped up a level at very short notice. There's plenty of fighters who have been ko'd like Jeffro was tonight, it doesn't mean you discredit anything they've done before based on one punch. When Brian Rose, Prince Aaron, Enzo Mac, Brad Pryce, Matty Hall, Tony Dodson and Stephen Smith were ko'd early in their careers doesn't mean you ignore anything they've done in their previous fights. And tonight doesn't make Jeff the 'tactically deficient' fighter with an inability to carry out instructions like you've made him out to be. He made one mistake and sometimes that's all it takes. Forums slate protected fighters with protected records then slate the fighters who take risks, takes the p*ss.

Re: McKenzie-Evans show on Allegedly channel
Cleverly's hardly a sell-out in Wales, or correct me if I'm wrong? If he had such a good fanbase then presumably his promoter would not always let him fight on the road. Ultimately, if Clev is to earn some serious cash moving forward he needs to increase his popularity in WALES. What better way for him to establish himself then against one of his countrymen who is well known to the Welsh public? From a business perspective, I'd argue that Maccaranelli would be just the ticket for Cleverly.dewipowell wrote:I can give you ten million reasons why Clev doesn't need Enzo in any way whatsoever. As for Evans, I don't need to see his other fights to be able to form a concrete opinion on him. I saw him in Prizefighter, he didn't impress me then, and he was out of his depth last night. I wasn't discrediting anything that Jeff has done before because, in truth, he hasn't done anything in his professional career. You ridiculously refer to it as me 'slating' him when I'm offering an opinion based on my perspective - this is a boxing forum - not the Samaritans online.
You're close to Evans, you're disappointed for him, I get it, but please introduce some objectivity when you're posting. Believe me I've gone down a similar road previously myself and discovered that not everyone will swallow it.
Re: McKenzie-Evans show on Allegedly channel
Indeed. Do you know why that might be? It's curious. Logically, one would imagine that Nathan's promoter is planning on taking him to Wales soon to try and establish them as a major attraction there. A rematch with Bellew, or an all-Welsh showdown against Maccarinelli should draw a decent crowd and be exciting fights for Nathan to impress the Welsh public.Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:We'll never know if Cleverly will be a sell out in Wales because he's never been given a chance to grow a fan base here with something like his last 12 fights coming on the road. Re: McKenzie-Evans show on Allegedly channel
Isn't there a particular issue with an unpaid bill of £150k for a fight at the Millennium following the collapse of a well known promoters previous promotional group?Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:Well without going into a massive rant, I think it had a lot to do with Calzaghe breaking away from Warren. When Calzaghe was with FW he could put shows on in Wales with the likes of Maccarinelli, Rees, Pryce, Cleverly etc and then I would have thought that as Calzaghe retired then the fan base may transfer to Cleverly and he could take the mantle. Personally I think that when he stuck by FW and the rest of the Calzaghe camp stuck together, it had a detrimental effect of his chance of getting a fan base in Wales because after he was ‘on the road’ straight away.Ben Carey wrote:Indeed. He didn’t have a title at that time so I guess FW couldn’t expect him to headline and fill a venue in Wales, but my biggest gripe is that his defences of his titles, that he won on the road, against the likes of Boyle, Onyango and Otieno could’ve easily have been somewhere fairly local like in the Newport Arena to start building his fan base. I don’t personally think there was any reason why they thought these shows (which were in Widnes, Swindon and York Hall) would have not have been as successful held local to Wales.
On the flip side though, people seem to forget, it’s not a popularity contest and Nathan earns his money based on his ability, not the amount of tickets he sells.

I'd like to see Maccarinelli, providing he does light-heavyweight on Friday and wins, at the Harvey Hadden in Nottingham. McKenzie can be hurt early but Enzo can be caught and rattled at anytime. I think it's definitely a case of whoever lands first.Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:Maybe that has something to do with it!
