How frequently is best for a champion to fight

I know most champions at lower weights seem to fight around 3 times a year, and at higher weights twice a year. Just interested as to what people think is best, I tend to favor fighters being more active as there is less rust to lose, what do you think.

Depends on promoters, opponents, contracts and damage from last fight. No best, just a fair amount of stipulations that makes a fighter fight either twice or three times a year.

Indeed, I was thinking about George Groves' situation, as he is early in his carrer so needs to fight people of different styles, but is likely to be in hard fightst because he has a belt. However he seems to be fighting every 3 or so months which is impressive.
