Gentleman and Crease: Joe Frazier has died.
Re: Gentleman and Crease: Joe Frazier has died.
to reality if I may for just a moment.
Just awful news, I wonder why he chose not to go the liver transplant route?.....these days much can be done. My guess is that he's not a complainer, and didn't even tell anyone of his suffering until it was way past the time anyone could help. He sort of struck me as someone who would operate under that ethic. He may have only recently had his cancer confirmed, but he probably had if for quite sometime. Just like the way he popped back up when Big George clocked him square, he probably just got back up every day and simply "battled back" despite the rather profound and unusual suffering that that particular cancer can create once it reallly latches hold. I know he was doing promotional appearances as recently as a few weeks ago which in hindsight is flat out astonishing that he could have possibly found the energy.
I met him, he was a gentleman, and you recognized a great soul when in his presence. I find the world a little more of a lonely place without him.

Joe Frazier was a real warrior of The Ring. Definitely a guarantee to be in the top 10 of anyone's Greatest Heavyweights list.
It's a terribly sad day for boxing, we have lost one of our heroes... And there aint many left.
Rest In Peace "Smokin" Joe.

I think this would be the case, and likely the reason a transplant would do him no good. Maybe it had spread and was inoperable.BoxBuzz wrote:He may have only recently had his cancer confirmed, but he probably had if for quite sometime.
The boxing world has lost one of the central figures from the greatest HW era of all time though. RIP Joe.
