I lived for this sport. Got every mag, watched every fight, studied old timers, fought amateur, etc but this is why I hardly follow it anymore.

Real shame that a good fight ended that way. Not sure I'm up for the Mayweather fight any more.

Hate to say it, but my path is mirroring yours - still follow it, but incidents like this and the Fury debacle are making me increasingly question why I do so...

Mayweather would knock him out IMO, I'm 100% sure of it, there's no way he would risk the judges decision against this guy.

i had a betfair screen of +100 on pac or the draw and +500 on marquez at the end of the fight

i decided to let it ride out instead of evening it up to around +320 on everything

Big mistake. Pacman is a FRANCHISE and generates obscene amounts of money for everyone involved. As long as a fight he is in goes to points, he will likely get the decision. I really should have traded for an even profit on every outcome but i thought justice would be done

make no mistake, marquez was robbed tonight but money talks and that is something that has to be taken into account when pacman is fighting

Disgusting decision> What a fight Marquez fought. I think this shows how much Floyd would hammer Manny if it ever happened>

Agreed, but it's just not good enough, boxing has lost many a fan tonight.

This is one of the worst things that I've ever seen in boxing! I really love the sport, but things like this make me wonder why I do. I don't want to watch MMA instead because I think it's glorified pub fighting.
BUT, never mind how upset and pissed off we all feel, the real loser tonight is Juan Manuel Marquez; he's gone out there and had the best night of his life, only to be horribly done over like that. Nothing against Manny either; he's trained his bollocks off for 12 weeks and the decision isn't his fault.
The judge who scored the 116-112 should be sat down and made to explain precisely which 8 rounds he gave to Manny...

This is why I stopped paying for PPV. Some of the things I've seen in boxing over the last few years are shocking. The decisions and referring in Britain is terrible now.

Boxing is in the gutter rignt now. UFC must be loving it.

Manny knew he had lost the fight, as did Freddy Roach. Marquez was brilliant in the fight. What a true warrior.

The most telling point for me was when the reptile Bob Arum goes straight to Marquezz after the result and basically tells him "forget the decision, we'll do it again next year and make you millions"

Marquez should have slotted him on the spot.

Arum says let's do it again too really put an end to the debate?????? Why? Marquez most likely won all 3 fights already, but get's stiffed each time.

The IJL card on the Lynes fight, the Fury stoppage and now the robbery of Marquez, all inside 4 days.

It's enough to make me want to follow WWF instead. At least they admit it's fixed.

It's the cummulative effect of those three that have left me feeling more disillusioned than I've ever been with the sport. If 'hardcore' fans like us are feeling increasingly alienated it really doesn't bode well for the future...

Look at the scorecard thread before you get kneejerk 'fix' over this. Analyse the cards, the judge most 'wrong' was the drawn card judge, who had a run of three rounds from the eighth for JMM and neither of the other judge/ had one. I had it 115-113 for JMM, I don't agree with the decision, but I can understand how it happened when I look at the cards. The judge whose score looks worst, Trowbridge 116-112, actually didn't have one round where one judge or the other didn't agree with his score. That shows that a lot of the rounds were tight and down to interpretation

Glyn, I think you're missing my point. Your logic seemed to be that because there was a divergence on the scoring of some rounds, ergo it followed that there was no 'fix'. I'm just pointing out that argument is flawed as the divergence doesn't automatically mean that it was because the rounds were tight, that's simply your interpretation of events.
As I've pointed out on another thread, it's funny how these things almost without fail play out in favour of the 'home' fighter, which would be a mathematical impossibility if everything was objective.

Sorry, gotcha. Yep, home guy usually gets the tight ones. Apparently HBO went biggish for Pacquiao, which I couldn't see at all

Liked Khan in the commentary. He was unbiased and insightful and honest and clearly thought Marquez had won clearly. Even said he would fight Marquez to even it up.....then after the decision seemed to remember he was team Pac and said it was tight, that one guy one a round then the other guy the next etc

During the fight he said manny was not getting off, was lunging, was missing, was being caught, outboxed, single shotting etc

Then he realised he has to tow the team line that is bound to be that Manny deserved it! Even Roach could not say that with conviction after and Manny was booed during his interview with Kellerman
