Enzo Maccarinelli next fight?
Enzo Maccarinelli next fight?
he only had 2 fights this year, not idea preparation for a potential fight with Johnny Nelson. Who will he fight next? I think he needs to prove himself domestically before taken on Nelson imo.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli next fight?
Must admit, I've been a bit detached from the current Boxing scene for a couple of months. But I bumped into Enzo at Swansea's first game at their new stadium a couple of Saturdays back. He mentioned to me that he was looking to fight Nelson at Swansea's new ground but Nelson wouldn't sign. I jokingly said he probably knows what's best for him. Enzo just fixed me with a stare and said "Put it this way, it's not me who's frightened".leforge wrote:he only had 2 fights this year, not idea preparation for a potential fight with Johnny Nelson. Also said they were still looking for an opponent for his next fight. I forget what date he said.
Has there been much talk about Enzo - Nelson while I've been out of touch?

Seconds out are reporting it will be Enzo and Nelson by the end of this year.

I personally don't think Macarinelli-Nelson will ever happen, i just think it will peter out with plenty of promises and little action. As for Macarinelli well where does he go? Can he afford to continue beating up WBU stiffs or does he need to try and challenge one of the divisions top boys? I think the latter.

Thompson will only fight 'if its a big fight' and/or 'if the money is right'.J wrote:i swear id read/heard carl has packed it in.
can anyone clarify?
I'd like to see Enzo beat Nelson, because hes got a more fan-friendly style and he seems like a really nice bloke, but I just don't see it happening as Nelson is specialist pugilist.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli next fight?
Thanks for the insight, lamphey. Considering some of the foes Johnny has faced in the past I'd be very surprised if he was scared straight of anyone. However, I can see a growing cause for concern on his part in that a) he's not getting any younger (granted he's fit as) b) Enzo has made some huge advances since the Scott fight (despite being against mostly knockover jobs).lamphey wrote:Must admit, I've been a bit detached from the current Boxing scene for a couple of months.
