Prizefighter Series 3: The Heavyweights

Post by Crease »

And so ladies and gentlemen, here we go again, Barry Hearns in association with Don Krease is pleased to announce the final phase of:
Image
TO THE VICTOR GOES THE SPOILS!!!!!

Prizefighter offers an opportunity for lower ranked fighters and the unranked contenders the chance to prove themselves in an open field, where rankings just don’t matter. This tournament is only for the most daring, the bold and the desperate.

It provides a new surge of life to the Champion’s record and a WBU Title shot, while winning the Prizefighter trophy:
Image

Rules of Prizefighter:
1. Prizefighter has been scheduled for three tournaments this boxing season : (Weeks 10, 20, 30)

2. Eight fighters in a series, first come first served. But only 1 fighter per Manager to spread the opportunities around... Although this rule is soemtimes relaxed.

3. Prizefighter will be run true to life... A straight KO format, series run in a single week.

And What happens to the Prizefighter Champion?
4. The Prizefighter Champion will receive a mandatory WBU Title shot the following week. (Weeks 11,21,31). This is a Mandatory title defence for the WBU Champion. The Prizefighter Champion ranking cannot exceed above the 16th rank.

FIRST NOTE: If the WBU Champ refuses the title defence, he will be stripped of the title and the Prizefighter Champion will participate in a title fight against an opponent chosen by the Commish.

In the event of a draw?
5. If a fight goes the distance, here is the systematic criteria which is followed until we find the victor:
* It goes to the judges cards.
* If tied... It goes to the Commish’s card.
* If still tied... Total knockdowns scored (aggressive fighting is encouraged).
* If still tied... Most punches landed.

SECOND NOTE: If a fight is stopped due to injury, the injured fighter will be withdrawn as he can’t fight later in the night and his opponent progresses to the next round, regardless of the scoring at the time of the stoppage.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Who can enter?
There are only 2 conditions: (rankings must be accurate of weeks 10,20,30)
A. For fighters ranked below 15 on the Commish’s official rankings
B. For fighters ranked outside of the title rankings.

THIRD NOTE: If a fighter signs up for Prizefighter and on the week of the series breaches the above conditions he will be considered inelligible.

What about later tournaments?
C. The Prizefighter Champion cannot re-enter a later series. Why repeat yourself?
D. New blood is preferred in later tournaments. But fighters who have entered previous Prizefighters can also enter, but will be placed on the “maybe” list until the week of the series.

What about the draw?
E. The eight gladiators will be numbered by Don Krease. A copy of the numbers will be sent to a neutral Manager (to prevent any claims of funny business).

The honourable commish Mr TzsyuForever will pick the numbered match-ups.

Barry Hearns in partnership with Don Krease will announce the draw (verified by the neutral manager)

Who will follow in the same glorious and blood-soaked path as the previous cahmpions:

The Prizefighter Series 1 Champion:
Image
Jack Johnson managed by (P4P1) who later went on to defeat Joe Louis and become the WBA Champion, only to be stripped of his title without being defeated for it.

The Prizefighter Series 2 Champion:
Image
Riddick Bowe managed by (DANDREWS010) who later went on to defeat Joe Frazier and become WBU Champion and fulfill Prizefighter's promise to turn his career around.

TO THE VICTOR GO THE SPOILS!!!
Prizefighter Enrolment:
(The confirmed list won’t be finalised until Week 20. But all applicants are encouraged to put their name forward early on. Remember first come, first served, don’t wait!)

I have suggested something for next week for Corbett and Norton.....tell me what you think.

Otherwise if there is room for a true gentleman of the sport please allow Corbett in to these proceedings.

Well noticed :TU: (I'm glad someone is paying attention to the rules  )

However this rule has been relaxed on several occasions before (most recently for The Commish as a "welcome to the management ranks" for him and his fighters) back on Week 20...

The new guy contacted me in Week 25 & enquired about the Prizefighter tournaments. I told him that the next one was in Week 30 and that I would reserve a place for his fighters.
It was as simple as that :TU:

I would also note that if Archie Moore wins his fight this week, he will then become inelligible for Prizefighter next week. :TU:

And what does "your BFF" mean?

Google it. 2 title shots in 2 weeks and 'rule relaxing'. It was either BestFreindsForever or boyfriend.

Well your accusing me of being gay, do you expect me to take it well?
And what have you got to complain about Dan? You are also a new guy, who entered Prizefighter and won it last time round, you of all people should know the benefits of it.

Indeed I was a new guy and I understand the benefits. I can just see all kinds of problems. Like his fighters facing each other (so essentially a bye) OR both of them facing up in the final which would be horrendous. Do you not think?

Not that it matters seeing as Lyle will do fvck all. Unless you want to relax the rules a little more and let Bowe back in :TU:

I think that Snortin vs Corbett has already happened... And Norton won. And it wasn't really that good a fight. Norton will be focusing on other opponents.

To be fair it's Archie Moore and David Haye so its a moot point. Let it run.

The Commish decides the draw and usually fighters who share a Manager always end up in opposite sides of the draw. :TU:
dandrews010 wrote:OR both of them facing up in the final which would be horrendous. Do you not think?
I think fair is fair, Dan. Prizefighter as a format is so unpredictable that ANYTHING can happen. (In the same vein as the real-life Prizefighter)
dandrews010 wrote:Not that it matters seeing as Lyle will do fvck all.
I actually think that Lyle has a decent chance at beating Haye this week. The fight could be all wrong for David Haye, so I wouldn't get too cynical just yet, mate. :TU:
dandrews010 wrote:Unless you want to relax the rules a little more and let Bowe back in :TU:
Sorry that's the ONE RULE we will never break. Bowe is a Prizefighter Champion & he will always hold a replica of the Prizefighter trophy:
Image
with the engravings: Prizefighter Series Two Heavyweight Champion
And you will always have that in your stable. Actually, you've achieved more in your first season than what some of us did in our rookie season. :TU:

Besides, would you really want to jeopardise Riddick's 100% perfect Prizefighter record? :)
