Tyson Fury vs Nevin Pajkic does 3.5 million viewers on Ch 5

Post by exittored »

That's what i'm hearing which if true is a sensational figure especially for channel 5 and added to the 3 million for Fury vs Chisora makes good news for British boxing and once again showing that the sport can get great viewing figures on network television when given a chance and build-up. Hopefully Channel 5 will give Hennessy a few non-Fury dates to showcase some of his other fighters like Kid Galahad and Chris Eubanks jr, i think a Galahad vs Willie Casey would do 1 million at least.

Any thoughts?

Imagine how massive Fury vs Audley Harrison would be? I'm betting 5 million, if not more.

Incidentally, these are huge viewing figures for 5. Must be among their highest ever for anything.

Agree about Audley vs Fury doing at least 5 Million especially with a couple months to build it up and get some banter going between the pair.

Audley may be finished but if there's one thing he can do and that's sell a fight even if people are tuning in to watch him lose. I'd also say he's probably one of the most well known sports stars in great britain due to his the massive media profile he's had ever since the 2000 Olympics.

Yeah i reckon 3.5 mill must be getting up there as their highest figure for a sports broadcast.

With this 3.5 million plus the 40 million viewers watching Pac-Marquez 3 in Mexico and projected 1.5 million PPVs sold in North America included with the great figures that Germany and Japan have been getting the last few years is all good news for boxing.

Easily their best figures, maybe even better than BB. Will be interesring to see what figures Fury gets in coming months, whether there will continue to be a gradual increase. He'd easilt get 5 million for Audley, I reckon 8-10 wouldn't be out of the question.

Unfortunately shit like BB still pulls in some impressive figures.

Tyson Fury becomes a star on British terrestrial television getting watched by millions whilst warrens fighters on Box Notion are probably lucky to be seen by 10,000 at the moment, i know which channel i'd rather be fighting on.

How do they measure the peak? If it's a ten minute period it would cover the whole fight

With a sport like boxing, casuals don't care about the build up so are switching over till the fight actually starts and then switch over as soon as the fight is over.

peak is highest point during the programming. so most probably middle of the main event.

an average of 1.7mil is a sensational figure and makes it one of C5's top shows on the tele. Maybe time for other promoters to come and speak to mick about helping fill out the card.

Definitely, the only stars in boxing will be those available on terrestrial tv and the odd one on sky. Those on a specialist channel hidden at the back of the sports section on sky won't get much coverage

This is all the viewing figures from the week ending 6th November, not got the fight week on there yet, but gives a good guide about where it will come in ratings.

Chris eubank jr tweeted about the 3.5 million viewers earlier in the week if that makes any difference.

the 3.5 figure originated from Steve Lilis I think.

Danny Flexen interjected later saying the average was 1.7 million with a peak of 3.2

Still pretty good figures.

How does 3.5million translate into ad revenue? Will we always accept a 2 fight televised card?

Eubank Jr is the future of Meaty Mick. He better just hope Fury don't get sparked before Eubank Jr emerges into the mainstream.

There's always one negative fornicator ha

It may have had a slight knock on effect but i don't think by much in a age where people can record everything and watch it at anytime

I'm actually just astonished by the figures for Pac-Marquez, 40 million viewers in Mexico and 90 million in the Phillipines.

Get out of it i've never read anything even close. Fury and his team may be full of blarney sometimes but they've backed up everything in the ring so far and all power to him.
