Barry Hearn used to do this all the time take a fighter over to the States even just to have him ringside at a rivals bout it gets his name out there makes people aware of him and that he is interested and means business.

Point taken, but it's ok to take him to the states but if he is fighting a bum will the US press take much notice, if he isn't on US TV then he has to fight someone with a pulse for people to sit up and take note. Plus you got to remember it won't all be US press sitting ringside it will be split 50-50 with the British press as they will be there for the Froch fight. so it is already limited for US media exposure.

This is a fairly high profile bout and I expect this fight will have above average amount of coverage on both sides of the pond and it probably will be a fairly low risk opponent but a spectacular ko regardless makes people sit up and take notice. He will probably get a mention in the write ups on both sides of the pond so not a bad thing in increasing his profile. I just dont see any reason why not its a great experience for Kell and if he does end up fighting Mike Jones for a welterweight title or whoever he already has an introduction to the American press. They will have a recording of his bout and they can say "Ah yes this is the unbeaten British lad that knocked out that guy on the Froch Ward undercard".

again point taken, but is he really going to get much exposure out of it, the US press will be writing about Ward and the UK press about Froch and we already know that the UK national press don't cover boxing as much as we like them too. Yes it will be great experience for Kell but unless he is fighting a top name don't expect much exposure. We have to remember the US is a tough nut to crack especially for us Brits and unless Kell is fighting a top name headlining the fight he won't get the exposure. good move by hearn to keep him busy but it isn't going to be as good as he tries to make out.

This putting yourself out there even if its not necessarily as the main attraction or agaisnt a big name opponent is important. Puts your name in the mix. One or two American writers might have a research and like what they see and start throwing his name in the hat when the welterweight division is mentioned.

Yeah - King Kong was just one of a long string of fighters who got stuffed by biased officials away from home.

People do talk some bollocks on this site. A bloke goes all the way to Tokyo, beats up their undisputed champion, & you can't even let the poor fvcker have his memories.

It's not like there isn't video footage:

He was a replicant, he dreamed of a unicorn - then at the end as he ran away he found he'd been left an origami unicorn, underlining his dreams & memories were fiction / planted.

Joshua Clottey would be perfect for Kell.

Usual shite opponent lined up for Brook and when he disposes of him easily certain people on here will talk shite about him being world class again.

There is no doubt he has some talent but just not as he or some think, first time he gets put in against a genuine World class welterweight with a record to back it up he'll be exposed as the hypejob he is.

This was never going to be a world class opponent though, was it? Has anyone ever said that? It's supposed to raise his profile in the States a bit, nothing more.

I think it's a well timed, and essentially important move for Kell.

He's made real progress in the past year or so, with two ''proper'' opponents and a showcase in America.

He wasn't exactly going anywhere previously, with his completely bogus WBO ranking fighting twice a year on DeGale undercards. This way, he'll actually get a shot against a good opponent that he can probably beat, rather than a crappy vacant title fight against a clown and a dozen shit defences.

This opponent is a bum though, rated 200 by boxrec and that's being generous. I didn't expect a Top 10 guy but at least someone who was going to to be competitive. The Hearns shouldn't go calling their man world class and then put him in with a guy like that if they want the boxing industry in America to take them seriously.

I said they should get Brook on the Ward/Froch undercard a few months back. I feel I should now take most of the credit for anything Brook achieves from here on out, possibly Froch too.

Absolute rubbish i never said anything even close. I did comment on a thread that was going on at Eastside boxing
but that was it and there was no mention of his mother.

I just want to see Kell tested against some world class opponents before his team and fans claim he's world class and mentions himself in the same breath as Khan, Pac and Mayweather...is that too much to ask for?

and who the eff has Khan fought to mentioned in the same breath as Pac and Floyd too ?

Paul McCloskey or Breidis Prescott ? would either of them eek out a life and death decision over Maidana.

On the thread "Kell Brook - Saturday Fight Night thoughts" you made those comments on Friday Oct 07 at 2.06pm. When people complained you later edited them out but your quotes are still seen on replies. :shame:

When has Brook proved he has the capability to mix it with ANYONE of clottey's class? Clottey has hung tough with the top guys, manny pac, cotto, judah, he's been in with and troubled the best and has hardly even been rocked vs any of them. what on earth will trouble him about kell fricken brook? tell me how Brook would win, I'm intrigued. want something more convincing than 'he would outbox him'

Brook fans simply can't argue with you at the minute...he's going to have to actually do it first.
