Why does it say "Heavyweight Title" and "Lightweight Title" now...
Thats pathetic... it shouldnt say that
If you do do that, it should only be for the 3 or 4 main belts...
Ricky Hattons WBU belt is called the "Light Welterweight Title" now??
I dont think so...that should say WBU..... this is reuining the whole website...it was fine before with the alphabet belts...now people will not be able to tell a champion from a beltholder, and people holding the IBO or IBA belts it will seem they are champ...
What Happend to the Alphabet belts??
I have to agree...
Sadly the days of the WBC and WBC being the main governing bodies to Boxing seems long gone. I can remember when the IBF was just an up and coming governing body to Boxing (along with the NABF).
I think what has happened is that because of all the Boxing mayhem that has developed over the years from Promotions (thank you Don King) that it became necessary to recognize the better fighter (as opposed to who had the certain governing belt/championship).
Ricky Hatton is definitely a much better fighter than say the new WBA Junior Welterweight champ Carlos Moussa (sorry if I have that name wrong, but the guy definitely is not that great a fighter). Even Vivian Harris was not much of a matchup against someone like Hatton. Hatton holds if I am not mistaken the IBF version of that title too though.
I guess when the day is over now-a-days in boxing it's just who is the better fighter in the eyes of Boxing critics rather than the old days when it meant something to be WBC or WBA champ. However - I do agree that there needs to be a more clear distinction as to what belt/title the "champ" holds.
