Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3
Re: Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3
After Chisora's performance against Fury. This is an easy choice for me; Helenius stops him. Chisora showed in the Fury fight that he is overrated. Also, I find it hard to believe Chisora was four days away from fighting Wladimir Klitschko after that performance against Fury.

Edmund Gerber will be fighting Michael Sprott on the undercard of Helenius-Chisora.
This is an excellent heavyweight tripleheader.

Apart from the stinky headliner. Povetkin v Boswell is a nothing fight. Sprout will be a legitimate test for Gerber and I really like helenius v Chisora as a contest. Winner next up for Wlad?Tunney wrote:Edmund Gerber will be fighting Michael Sprott on the undercard of Helenius-Chisora.

They have replaced Sprott with Matt Skelton as Gerber's opponent on this Helsinki card.

See, that's what I thought when I heard about Helenius + saw his results against Peter and Brewster, but he came over and sparred Haye earlier this summer and I couldn't have been more shocked at how limited he looked. He was very tentative and unsure of himself in both spars and, as a result, Haye was able to do pretty much as he pleased.Boxing Addict wrote:Helenius will do him
this guy looks the real deal
tall, heavy handed with both hands and decent boxing skills
Chisora looked crap at the weekend no matter what anyone says
Maybe it was due to the speed factor (the likes of Peter and Brewster are hardly known for it) that caught Helenius out and surprised him. Either way, he wasn't anything like the hot new thing I'd been told to expect.
Of course, you could also argue that Chisora shares more in common with Peter and Brewster than he does with Haye, but, based on what I saw this summer, I'd give Del Boy a good shot if he can get off to a positive start. Helenius seems to be very much a confidence fighter, and can be forced into a shell if things aren't going his way early.
Re: Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3
Someone is getting knocked out. Chisora comes to fight and is aggressive which will bring the best out of Helenius. We know it takes Helenius a while to get going sometimes so Chisora is an ideal opponent to see how good Helenius really is.
That said, Chisora defiantly has a chance to pull the upset if in decent shape. He can bang a bit himself!
Prediction: Helenius gets rocked in the first half of the fight but comes through to score a KO win in the 9th round. Scorecards will be close leading up to the KO.

That's interesting and good to hear. I hope Haye puts in a good performance against Vitali. He's definitely got it in him to do so.EJW wrote:See, that's what I thought when I heard about Helenius + saw his results against Peter and Brewster, but he came over and sparred Haye earlier this summer and I couldn't have been more shocked at how limited he looked. Re: Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3
I'm yet to be convinced about Helenius, especially as Helen is a girls name, a bit of a great white hope IMO
Re: Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3
Helenius was struggling briefly with Levin - who offensively reminds me a little of a "good" Chisora.... defensively has a terrible chin.Asterix wrote:That's interesting and good to hear. He was losing untill he tagged him as Levin got a little careless. For me, thats why its going to take a big swing for me to be convinced about Helenius.
However, Levin can be a world class fighter offensively (his outclassing of Ray Austin shows this) - just its heart, desire and chin that lets Levin down time and time again.
Re: Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3
The fight with Levin was the first time I saw Helenius properly. It wasn't a very good showing from Helenius, apart from to show that he has power. But Helenius' results are impressive so far.stujones wrote:Helenius was struggling briefly with Levin - who offensively reminds me a little of a "good" Chisora.... defensively has a terrible chin.

As you saw in the Levin fight Helenius leaves himself wide open for counterpunches (note Helenius was hit after the knockdown as he was trying to finish Levin - he did show a good chin, because after Levin caught him flush, he was still able to finish Levin off.stujones wrote:Helenius was struggling briefly with Levin - who offensively reminds me a little of a "good" Chisora.... defensively has a terrible chin.

A lot of people believe Helenius is certain to win, but because he's fairly easy to hit and because Chisora has good power has a good enough chin to survive some rounds, I think Del Boy has a real chance.
However, because Helenius has some decent offensive skills, deceptively fast handspeed and hits so hard, I think the most likely outcome is Helenius stops Chisora.
Re: Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3
When has Del Boy shown real power? He landed over and over against Sexton and never even dropped him.
Re: Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3
Del boy will win this in a close one
Re: Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3
Do you think Del Boy will get a decision in Finland if the fight is close?
Re: Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3
Chisora getting stopped in 8. Next stop either prizefighter or retirement!

I seem to be one of the few people on here who supports Dereck. I can see he's up against it here but if by some chance he does pull it off in Finland, will you support him if he goes on to challenge the Klitschkos? I guess he would have earned it.
Re: Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3
Audley lost to Williams and Guinn in his mid-30s. No reason Chisora can't go past 2 defeats.
That said, his fighting style is very reliant on stamina and sharpness.

Re: Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3
He lost a lot of support with his preparation (or lack of) for the Tyson fight. Most probably had him as favourite for that fight, up til the weigh in. I've always been a bit of a fan, despite his eccentricities, partially because he's a Finchley boy and partly because I do like a good crazy boxer, but not turning up for the Fury fight left a bit of a sour taste.nobby_nobbins wrote:I seem to be one of the few people on here who supports Dereck. That said, if he has put in the preparation and is mentally set for a tough night, then I can see him causing Helenius problems and gaining a shock win.

I'm a Dereck fan. In shape he's a very, very good fighter.
