As for Bunce, he can be a bit wearing at times, when he's on form he's good but sometimes it just grates when he doesn't shut up and let the other people speak. Same can be said for a lot of pundits though!
He defo lost a bit of my respect for the rants at Ian McNeilly on the other threads and his views that 'real fans' would subscribe no matter what, duno where they came from but I never put Buncey down as a 'sing for his supper' type, it's really opened my eyes a bit.

What's changed from when everyone was loving Buncey and there was the Bring Back Buncey campaign?

Every message/email I sent to him when Setanta was on the go got read out and sometimes got a direct reply.
But in all honesty the bloke is an irritating dick head imo.

edit :
in fact - heres what i wrote - @allegedly #question4stevebunceboxinghour , What does nathan cleverley believe should be tony bellews next move after their fight
was obviously when Cleverly was in the studio in the days immediately after the fight .
what bunce said was something along the lines of " damian hucker has suggested we use the email address http://www.questionsforstevebunceboxinghour im sure most people will agree thats a bit long but nice idea "
thats nothing like what i said whatsoever . i thought that if people who know me heard that they would think " wtf you on with damian"
Re: Bunce, boxrec, his show
I did also notice in the first few shows boxrec got a mention and last couple it hasn't. Defo is agenda driven.
I've always liked the fella untill recently, it's like he can't accept other peoples opinions if they are in conflict with his own. He seems to like the role of being the voice of the people when it comes to boxing yet he is becoming allegedly's monster for me. Hope he get's his head out his arse and get's back to what he does best.
Also the boxing hour is becoming boring, it's like the same lines & jokes every week. What ever happened with the idea of the boxing hour being live at planet hollywood with the fans?

Yep I enjoy the Bunces boxing hour and prefer it to ringside personally, don't know why.
Although the Setanta format with Kerr as the straight man worked well.
The more boxing shows the merrier imo

Well I'm not going to slag Buncey off because he plugged our gear at www.nobleartboxing.com and fair play to him for that
.
I do miss him bouncing off Andy Kerr which could help improve the format of the show, but overall he's not that bad.
However, having Dom Negus and those unlicensed goons on, what's all that about? Dom a world champion? Didn't he have a WBF Intercontinental bauble or something?

Re: Bunce, boxrec, his show
Bunce is brilliant when he has got someone to work with and keep him on the point and in line, as he did on the Setanta show or as he works as a pundit on allegedly, particularly alongside Steve Lillis.
He's hopeless when he is on his own, he starts fumbling and gets lost in his own ego. That commentary he did on that first Sauerland show on allegedly was just awful. At one point he even said "as Floyd Mayweather said to me..."

Re: Bunce, boxrec, his show
I think the Setanta version worked better because the content was broader and the thoughts about the state of British boxing were genuine.
I prefer a genuine opinion, than one slightly restrained due to the presence of the paymasters.
I distinctly remember Steve making a comment about 'not biting the hand that feeds you' during one Setanta show as a reason why so many of his peers sit on the fence. His weekly ridiculing of Warren's selection of Khan's opponents ran through the Setanta show like a stick of rock.
I remember a frosty live on air phone call with Khan, where Bunce brought up fellow lightweights Thaxton & Murray and Warren/ Khan withdrawing from the purse bid.
It was that outspoken and bold approach that championed Steve as a forum favourite, as he took challenging questions and shoved them in a fighter's face.
I've tuned in to the new show a couple of times but in truth, it's an advert for the channel's stable. It was Degale, Clev, Bellew, Enzo etc.
That's absolutely fine and understandable - but that magic subtle ingredient of the Setanta formula which made it a 'must watch' is not there anymore.

Re: Bunce, boxrec, his show
I have to agree. Back then it was a little different, up against Warren and Sky etc, Steve was able relax and call it exactly how he saw it. There has been a subtle shift since BN, which one can understand. Warren is a powerful guy in the British game and does not fear throwing his weight around, sometimes out of spite, bitterness or arrogance (does anyone still read his appalling newspaper column?).G0mez wrote:I prefer a genuine opinion, than one slightly restrained due to the presence of the paymasters.

It is not generally wise to piss off the guy who is paying you and Steve is human, with bills, family etc. Slightly disappointed, if I am honest but conversely, I can understand it. We all love boxing, Steve is a boxing journo, who relies on it for his income, we don't. So we have a luxury he cannot afford.
Re: Bunce, boxrec, his show
Another comment I would like to make about the old show and the new show was some of the questions / statements Bunce used to put out from the fans on Setanta. He wasn't afraid to challenge his payers at Setanta and talk about fights the fans would like to see on Setanta. It really felt Bunce was interacting with the boxing fans and trying to push for more and more boxing on Setanta. When Setanta said "no" to certain fights, Bunce would appologise but the evidence was there quite publically that Bunce was asking the questions to Setanta - it felt like "our voice" to the channel.
The one that sticks out was with that mess about Jennings vs Cotto and a certain promoter (who wasn't promoting the show) trying to stick his oar in to stop it being shown on Setanta (who had a deal to show Cotto fights). Bunce brought up the "will Setanta show it" for weeks on the Boxing hour, until eventually it was shown live on Setanta.
allegedly is a fledging channel and they are all trying to find their feet, maybe the Bunce Hour will be more like that later - but thats what I would like to see more of in the future.

I really don't think, given the stuff going on in the sport that he crams into a weekly show, he is deliberately not talking about this website. He mentions eastside quite a bit, which I never go on, but you know what, maybe he just likes it on there for personal reasons or something ?
If he sat there talking about semi-skimmed milk every week, somebody, somewhere would be saying, Monty Python-esque in tone, "what the hell has Bunce got against full fat milk ?"
