Re: Sexton-Olubamiwo 13th Jan
Any news on who else might be on this card? Quite fancy going to this. Is it promted by FW?
Re: Sexton-Olubamiwo 13th Jan
Larry has a far better chance against Sexton than DC, but that pretty much goes without saying.
Quite difficult to pin Sexton down as a fighter, really.

Re: Sexton-Olubamiwo 13th Jan
I think Sexton is a good matchup. What Larry lacks at the higher technical level, he makes up for in raw power. If somebody as powerful as Larry punched you square on the chin, I don't care even if your name is Vitali, you go down like a sack of shite.
Fury would hit the deck if Larry hit him square. And with Fury's non existent defence that would be likely against a man of that kind of power.
Yes it is about levels, but remember, this is what makes the Heavyweight division so special !

Re: Sexton-Olubamiwo 13th Jan
No direspect to Larry here but I fancy Sexton to win this with a bit to spare, mid to late rounds stoppage. That said I've not seen either of them fight in a year and Larry may have been busting his ass on his technique in the gym. He certainly has a punchers chance and I've no doubt he will hurt Sexton if he hits him clean.
Conquest vs Toks was a final eliminator for the British title so the fight was always going to happen. That said I rate Lewis-Dickinson and Askin above both but lets be honest, it's good to see the cruiserweight division back up and running again with some new blood being injected. No matter what you think about all the various TV outlets, the more British boxing on TV, the more money into the game, the more title fights from Area, British, Commonwealth, etc.

That's a big exaggeration. Lennox Lewis himself had him wobbling around but he wasn't down like a sack of shite.carlbcfc wrote:I think Sexton is a good matchup. You're off your rocker. It's obvious Sexton is the better boxer.Tunney wrote:Superior skills?Asterix wrote:Why do you think that? I think Sexton's superior skills will show and he'll win.Tunney wrote:Larry "WarMachine" Olubamiwo will easily annihilate Sam Sexton.![]()
Olubamiwo is a powerful puncher. Wait and see, it will be a round one KO for WarMachine.

I will be rooting for Sam as I am a Norwich boy but good luck to you as well Larry.
Two really nice blokes, it's a shame one has to lose!
Interesting fight - Sexton is clearly the more skilled boxer but Larry does have KO power. I think a mid-round Sam stoppage is most likely but you never know...

Re: Sexton-Olubamiwo 13th Jan
Interesting bout. but it should be for a domestic title at least southern area (I know mcderrmott still holds this) i take it that its just an 8 rounder if so there is a lot on the line for both guys for relatively very little. seems to me that one of these chaps is going to be left out in the cold with few opptions after this bout,if i where there manager i would demand a big purse for this cross roads fight, hope you haven't let allegedly get you cheep boys
thats what im saying,
That said im a larry fan so go and do the buissness big Larry,

Re: Sexton-Olubamiwo 13th Jan
There is a lot of Larry Love here !
To offer a different perspective ..... I have only seen Larry box a couple of times on tv, but from what I have seen I would not say he posesses great punching power (relative to weight).
His punches are more swinging arm shots and he looks as though he is punching through treacle.
He is obviously very "strong" but I believe that he uses this strength rather than actual "punching power". As soon as he boxes somebody who can move and box he will be in trouble.

He's completely off his rocker, Sam's a good British level boxer with an nice jab. He speared Rogan with it and was having good success against Chisora (Who was in good form that night) at times.Asterix wrote:You're off your rocker. Re: Sexton-Olubamiwo 13th Jan
This is a better fight (than Chisora) for Larry IMO. It's a tough fight as Sexton is experienced with some good wins, but if Larrys tightened his defence and can start landing with his undoubted power then he can get a W here, which will open plenty of doors and put him right back in the mix. BIG fight for both fighters!!!
