Eurosport-live-Elephant-Castle

Post by bobmee »

I didn't know about it until just now, so wonder how many others do...live tomorrow (Friday) as well as the channel that turns into Allegedly when you type it in here (Crolla-Limond) there's Eurosport (British & International, I'm told), Southern Area title fight from Elephant & Castle, Owen v Murphy + undercard. No idea of timings, guess it's flick-around-and-see-what-happens for anybody interested.

Is this a one-off show, or has Micky Helliot landed a deal with Eurosport?

Not sure, but I think it might be a longer deal. Would have thought somebody would have announced it though.... maybe I missed it.

Thanks. Missed this, I haven't seen it anywhere. Hopefully it will get more coverage as it develops.

Nice!
So that's, what, seven British promoters that now have a TV-deal of some sort?

FW - allegedly
Matchroom - Sky
Hatton - Sky
Maloney - Sky
Hennessy - Channel 5
Fearon - Primetime
Helliet - Eurosport

Anyone know how many BBBC licensed promoters there are in the UK at these days?
Who should be next in line for a TV-deal?

My understanding was that Eurosport televise one or two promotions a year from the UK and that these were generally up for grabs. I sadly doubt whether they pay much money

Hope your referring to the main event at the EC as the undercard is a bit ropey.

The combined stats for the right hand side of the bill are:- W:33 L:427 D:14 (Hope the main events good!)

I think if I was a TV exec at Eurosport rather than compete with allegedly i'd have liked to have seen the Magna Show live on a Saturday night.....

Yes wouldve definitely rather seen them show the Rotherham show.

I like Eurosport showing some British small hall shows.

They've shown a few Robert Waterman shows which have featured Hatton fighters recently

I was thinking this myself when I saw Helliet saying that he has a reputation for even money fights. The main event looks competitive the rest is home fighter v journeyman.

There is not much in it regarding quality of the bill - both are poor.

Entertainment wise it was a good show.

Ben Murrphy showed immense strength, fitness and determination to catch up and stop Tony Owen who had been boxing with the right gameplan.

Dan Woodgate scored a frightening KO over Paul Davis in what was shaping to be a good fight

Craig Whyatt applied intelligent pressure to beat the experienced and much bigger Robin Deakin on points

I thought so, Laight did as he pleased. Played about with him really and holding back. He's definitely better than what his record shows but he wants regular work and of course, if he grabs a win or at least goes all out that phone will stop ringing

I was wondering what that was about - they were really giving it; who was the 'fat bstard' who they were taunting?

Wasn't a stone over Was 7lbs on monday Offered them the fight at a higher weight they wanted more money fair enough. But was feeling a bit ropey start of the week so didn't wanna push it for a nothing fight. Could of made weight but haddn't sold a lot of tickets so there wasn't much money or much point! Beating a kid thats not even rated would have got me where? I had nothing to gain or nothing to prove really.

But yeah your right blowing up in weight is starting to get ridiculous I worked so hard to get back down from 13 stone. After my draw at wembley Fighting at 9 stone 9 I Lost a bit of interest and became a bit disheartened was injured went away and did nothing for a few months was told to stop boxing because the damage to my hand buy a stupid NHS orthopaedic surgeon. But I decided to continue on with the hand problems managing the injury as best I can so that also factored in to pulling out. Why make my hand worse for no money when I can rest it and wait for a bigger for better money. Im staying in the gym gonna take my weight down and sit at a good weight until I get a fight date.

I always justified my yoyo diet lifestyle by saying I don't drink I don't have late nights its ok its just a bit of junk food. Nothing like what Hatton did but its just the same its still abusing my body eating like the way I was. It defiantly took its tool getting the weight off has run me down hence why I'm ill now. Now I'm creeping up on 30 I can't really afford to live that lifestyle if I intend to go any further in the sport. Tottaly unprofessional on my part and something I now no I can't afford to do anymore. If you look at my fights you can see Iv boxed from 9stone 9 up to 11 stone 2. Time to stick at a weight.
