Update for Jeff Hinds - boxer ID 268948
Update for Jeff Hinds - boxer ID 268948
I was wanting to see if you could put a tag line on the bout with Rafael Estrada as being Jeff Hinds Pro Debut.
Much thanks in advance...

Anyone Home???
Any idea if and when this will be updated???
Actually, it IS noted on the "Wiki" page of this bout:
http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php?t ... ght:829010
But access to that Wiki page is no longer available at this time by going to there directly from the Fight Record itself; one used to be able to do that. That's why I am favor of a short bout comment like this being put on the Boxrec fight record itself. It really doesn't take up that much "space" in either the database or on the BoxRec record itself.

Ric Thank You...
That was a comment I had put out when the Wiki blog was still available. As for JCS's comment - the reason I want it marked is for the same reason the comment is made on just about every other pro boxers record (and yes I can tell it was his pro debut - jackass - he's my cousin and I was at the bout).
Ric if you guys could just apply the comment (barring it taking up too much webspace...LOL) I would certainly appreciate it.
Thanks

I'm saying.. whats the point? Obviously its the first fight in his career, you can tell by the date. If you click on his opponent's profile, you can see that your cousin is 0-0-0 and could logically determine that was his first fight from there too.
Should we go through the database and tag every fighter's last fight as a "farewell fight" when less than an ounce of common sense is necessary for a user to determine this fact simply by looking at the dates? Thats why the fight pages are ordered by date.
This just sets a precedent and screams inconsistency. Do we now put this for every fighter's first fight? Can we put back all the mentions of knockdowns, DQ info, controversial decision information where applicable? I see a lot of that has disappeared in MOST places.
Sorry for trying to keep things consistent and assume the average BoxRec user had an IQ high enough to determine themselves that a fighter's first fight IS their debut.

Now I did not think of it from THAT particular perspective.GreyMinus wrote:Well, actually it's a tool for the editors as well. You see, if you put it's the pro debut for the fighter, then the editor knows that a new fighter is being added to the database, and not an exisiting fighter who may have missing fights on his/her record.
Thanks for that kick in the ass.
I was unsure where he was coming from though, since he knew it was his pro debut (since it was his cousin).
Grey thank you, sorry JCS
Guys I really wasn't trying to be confrontational on this remark (sorry for the name calling JCS), but the point made here really is one I should have stated from the beginning. I just wanted to make sure a marker was in place for Jeff so that it was known that it was his pro debut (and not as Gray suggested possibly just another fight on his record).
This also has some value from a marketing perspective so that they can see the quality of competition that Jeff has put himself against since his debut. For instance - his second pro fight was against the 3 time UFC Lightweight champion (UFC = MMA) Jens Pulver. Now if there is no way to determine his pro debut it may not be as impressive that this was only his second pro fight (regardless to the outcome). In addition to this he has not fought against an opponent with a losing record. boxrec has been a priceless tool for us to sell Jeff's qualities to matchmakers, and thus was the reason I was wanting the accuracy.
Regardless - if you are able to make the update - much thanks in advance.

Re: Grey thank you, sorry JCS
The glitch at this point is that an Editor has "locked" that bout. Only he can come back, unlock it, and add the comment. I'm not positive, but this may be one of the Editors who's opposed to "cluttering up" records with comments like this, which some believe belong solely on the Wiki fight page, not in the Boxrec fight record. (There is lingering disagreement among the Editors on this point still.) If I'm wrong about this certain Editor's stance, I apologize in advance.sly2kusa wrote:Regardless - if you are able to make the update - much thanks in advance.
One last favor Ric
Ric if I might be able to ask 1 last favor - could we check with this editor and appeal to him/her and see if they wouldn't mind adding the comment?
I would (and I know Jeff would) really appreciate it.
Thanks again,
